1920-2022
Passed away peacefully at the age of 102 on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Extendicare, London, where she had resided for many years. Predeceased by her dear husband Jim. Doreen was the loving aunt of Russell (Carole), the late Bruce, the late Fred, Garry (Carol) the late Lewis (Pam), and great-aunt of Sean, Scott, Paul, and Shannon. Lynda and Fred Smith were extraordinary faithful friends for many years who gave Doreen many happy visits (always bringing homemade goodies). Niece Pat and dear friend Marietta devoted many years of caring and sharing life with Aunt Doreen. Betty Agnew was a wonderful friend to Doreen and a very special lady who brought much joy to her life, as well as her husband Jim. Lynn Walton was a valued and caring friend, who visited from a distance on a regular basis and held a special place in Doreen’s heart. Greatly admired Godson Trevor was very special to her. Thanks to Sr. Mary who visited Doreen faithfully with humour, stories and “plant care”. Many thanks to the Extendicare staff from every department for the care they gave Doreen, especially PSW Joanne, who added all the extra touches that made Doreen feel special each day!!! Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. which will be conducted at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Doreen are asked to consider the CNIB, (Doreen never let her blindness interfere with finding some joy in her life each day!), Extendicare London or a charity of their choice.
