Donald James ‘Jim’ Shore

June 5, 1936 - November 12, 2022

“To the world he was one man, to his family he was the world.”

Jim slipped away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022, with his girls by his side, at the age of 86. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jim’s love for his family was shown by his endless devotion. He always wanted to be sure they had everything they needed. Jim always loved the outdoors. Jim enjoyed birding and many hunting trips with his brother Jerry and hunting buddies. He was always the chef at large family gatherings. Jim loved to shop; in fact, the stores were his favourite place to be. Kathy will miss his expertise in the kitchen and his frequent daily shopping excursions. Jim was a prominent homebuilder in the city of London for most of his life. He and Kathy loved traveling and winters in Florida. He enjoyed golfing, especially in his retirement, making many friends at the Thames Valley Golf Course; he instilled his love of the game in his granddaughters Lauren and Tori. His grandchildren will remember his many jokes and tricks, as well as the way he made them laugh.

Jim is predeceased by his parents, Detective Gerald and Ellen Shore; his mother-in-law, Marion Brooks (2017); the mother of his children, Carol Shore (2017); his son, Gregory Shore (2020); his twin brother, Jerry Shore (2021); and his sister-in-law, Marjorie Erickson (2021). Survived by the love of his life, Kathy. They were rarely apart. Also survived by his sister Marion Reaume (Don); sisters-in-law: Mary Shore, Janice Levitt (Tom), Elaine Browning (Tom), Karen Tiffin (Doug); brother-in-law Brian Erickson; children: Nancey Charron (Ken), Kelly Hooper (Pat), Steven Shore, Nicole Charland (Paul), Leanne Shore; grandchildren: Sarah, Brittney, Jessica, Cameron, Michael, Lauren, Tori; great-grandchildren: Remi, Shay, Tateyn, Aeris, Sydri. Jim will also be missed by his four-legged grandbaby, Paisley.

Special thanks to Dr. Omar Al-Azem and his associates, as well as the caring staff at University Hospital on the fourth and sixth floors. Memorial service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the London Health Sciences Foundation – Palliative Care or the Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario would be appreciated.
