Dennis Arthur Griffiths
August 9, 2014
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Arthur Griffiths on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at London Health Sciences Centre – University Campus, peacefully, and with family at his side, in his 73rd year. Dennis will be profoundly missed by his daughter, Jennifer (Jim Easton), son, Brett (Shannon Burnham) and their mother, Diana Hayman Scholl (Gary). Sadly predeceased by his son, Jay (2009). Adored “Poppa” to Liam and Morgan Easton. Cherished brother to Gwen (Ron) Sparling, Doug (Audrey), both of London, Don (Francine) of Port Sydney, Richard (Mary-Lynn) of Thorndale and Craig (Joan) of Waterloo. He will also be deeply missed by his many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Dennis was a well-respected and dedicated educator in London, teaching at Princess Anne, Lord Nelson, Masonville and Stoneybrook Public Schools. He will be fondly remembered for his wicked sense of humour, intelligence, and the twinkle of mischievousness in his eyes. He loved sports, nature, gardening, country music, Civil War history, and animals (especially, his long-time furry companion, Chet). His strength and courage in dealing with a multitude of health issues over many years is legendary. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Margrieta Edels and the late Dr. Tom McGhie for their care and compassion provided to Dennis over the course of his 32 year battle with illness. At Dennis’ request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A gathering to express your condolences to family will be held at the Garden Room at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre at 551 Windermere Road, London on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. A private memorial will be held with family and friends at a later date. Donations may be made to the Cancer Society, Diabetes Association, Humane Society or Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.

I just came across this when searching Google for my amazing grade 6 teacher, whom we always referred to as "Mr. G". It has been a long time, but I remember his wit and ability to reach students of all personalities and abilities in the classroom. I know he had a positive affect on many students throughout his career. I am a teacher today and I will always remember him fondly.
Fun memories of teaching with Dennis at Lord Nelson School.
Remembering Dennis and his great companionship as my "Dinner Buddy" My condolences go out to the family.
We were always impressed by Dennis' wit and good humour, in spite of his long and difficult illness. He will be greatly missed by us and the countless others he has touched with his remarkable coping skills.
I remember Dennis from when we attended Medway & Clarke road high schools. We were in the same class of grade 9 at Medway & I recall the good times we had both in & out of class when we chummed around together. I vividly remember that we both tried out for the junior basketball team & Dennis made it & went on to be a good ball player. I remember how much of a character & a good student he was. Even though we lost touch after leaving school I often thought about him & the good times we use to have. Just recently my brother-in-law 9 George Specht ) & I were reminiscing about the good old days & Dennis was one of the people that we thought of & what a funny character he was. Our condolences go out to the family at the loss of a great guy. Gary Oswald
I have known Dennis since his marriage to my cousin Diana in 1965. He also taught my daughter Julie at Stoneybrook P.S. He was always a pleasant man, fun to be around . I admired him greatly for the long battle against illness that he fought. My heartfelt sypathies go out to Jennifer, Brett, Diana and all the family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers in this time of sorrow. Sincerely, Anne

I had Dennis as a teacher in grade 7&8 at Princess Anne. He was my favourite teacher. He taught me immeasurable lessons. He was kind and funny. I continued visiting him at Lord Nelson after I graduated grade 8. He had always given me great advice. He will be missed.
