On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, David Postowoj abruptly passed away in his 62nd year. Beloved partner of Lori Brodie. Dear stepfather of Lindsay Lane and her husband Owen, and Melissa Taylor. David will be missed by the family dog Benny. Cherished brother of Alexander Postowoi, Larissa Kurucz (Larry Kurucz), Margaret Postowoj, and Karen Postowoj (Jon Bondarczuk). Loving uncle of Neil (Katherine), Sacha, Nikolai, Tatyana, Johnny, Shane, and Kayla, and great uncle to Freyja, Ronan, Shane, Lyla, and Lillia. Predeceased by his wife Francis Postowoj (née Henry), his brother John Postowoj and his nephew James Riley.
David graduated from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario in 1985. He was an entrepreneur and a franchise owner of Wendy’s Restaurants in London and Stratford. David and his family were proud of his accomplishments and he will be remembered for his caring heart and his philanthropy to LHSC, Ivey Business School and many more organizations of interest. He was an avid golfer and a long-standing member of The Oaks Golf Club. Our deepest condolences go out to Lori and Dave's extended family during this difficult time. It’s hard to find the right words to express the sadness we all feel. I had the privilege of golfing with Dave for nearly 20 years, and let me tell you, those rounds were more than just a game; they were a window into his incredible character. Golf has a funny way of revealing who we really are. For Dave, it showed a man of integrity, kindness, and a great sense of humor. He was the kind of guy who would crack a joke to lighten the mood, even when the game wasn’t going his way. His loyalty and friendship were unwavering, and it was clear that he was always there for those he cared about. What truly stood out about Dave was his support for Fran during her toughest times. The strength and compassion he showed were nothing short of remarkable. He faced challenges with grace, and it was inspiring to witness. Just days before his passing, I chatted with Dave, and he was on cloud nine. He had recently connected with Lori and was living the retirement dream, splitting time between here and Mexico. It’s so unfair that this joyful chapter of his life was cut short. He deserved every moment of happiness. Dave will be deeply missed, but I know I’ll think of him often. In time, today’s sorrow will fade into warm memories of laughter, friendship, and those unforgettable golf games. Here’s to Dave—a true friend who left a lasting impact on all of us. I had the pleasure of knowing Dave for over 35 years beginning with his days in Chatham where he met and married Fran. I’m not sure who had the best sense of humour, but they sure were a great couple. Dave was loving and supportive through all the years as Fran endured her terminal illness. I am so happy that Dave was able to find happiness in a new life enjoying the fruits of his labour and special relationship with Lori. His humour, hardy laugh and humanity will be missed by all that knew him.
David was a great friend and a much loved brother to me and our extended families and friends in the US, Canada and Germany. Death is shocking enough and unheralded death yet more shocking still. David was an astute business man, talented, persevering and dedicated to achieving success. He also had a plan to retire long before he reached his dotage, to take the road onto the path of a simpler life of "his and her time" together with his loving partner Lori Brodie. He was at the beginning and pleased with the progress he had made into this new phase of his life. And then it ended, as all things we imagine and hope for ourselves and others always do in this world. I'm saddened by what my loss is as it must be for all who feel loss at his passing. But David had a great and interesting life lived fully. He had a good run and a great ride. What else is there really to hope for in this life, but that.
We are very saddened by the sudden loss of Dave, our friend and neighbour. He always had a smile on his face and took the time to say hello. His involvement and commitment to the community will not be forgotten. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to Lori and the family. He will truly be missed...
We have had the pleasure of getting to know Dave over the past two years. Although our friendship was cut short, Dave certainly left a lasting impression. His kindness, generosity and caring personality was evident from our first get together. His dedication to Lori, his community and everyone that he met was really inspirational. He talked about his years at Wendy's with such pride and obvious commitment to the employees and their well being. Dave's smile was infectious and we know that we will miss him and his caring nature. Dave inspired so many people and we can honestly say that his life made a difference. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Lori and the whole family.

My friendship with Dave was through his first wife, Fran, who was a dear friend of mine. What a warm, funny, smart and caring guy he was! Fran and Dave were a lovely couple — he was a good match for my hilarious and lovely friend. What I remember about her final years (Fran died in 2016 of MS) was the loving care Dave showered her with during very challenging times. We were all devastated by her death. It was so unfair. I was so happy to learn that Dave moved on from his grief and met Lori. He deserved to have a happy life and spend his hard earned money on travel and adventure. I am so sorry this phase of his life was cut short. My sincere sympathies to Dave’s siblings and to Lori. May your memories of your life together sustain you as you grieve his loss.
I am David s baby sister, Karen. That alone can give you insight to our relationship. He was my big brother, older by 2 years. He was told he had to walk me to school which he did but of course, not too close. I looked up to David. His friends were "cool" and everyone had a crush on him. Life has a plan and his grade school first kiss and love was Lori Brodie. He was reunited with her years later. They built a home and life together. My heart breaks for her. David and I were siblings but also close friends. He was always just a phone call away for any problem I was having or for any chat session. Please keep an eye on my son James in heaven.
Our sincere condolences to Lori and family for your sudden loss. We will forever cherish the fun memories of playing pickleball and golf with Dave and Lori. Dave had a great sense of humour and we always enjoyed our time together. Dave, you will be missed.
We have Great Memories of our Friendship with Dave from Elementary School to our married lives. Having reached our retirement years we looked forward to getting back in touch, obviously that won’t happen now. Miss You Buddy .
My brother Dave touched the hearts of everyone he encountered with his kindness, humour and unwavering love. Dave accomplished so much in his lifetime and was just starting to enjoy his retirement which was cut short. He had bought a warm place to stay for the winter in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with his partner Lori which was the love of his life. Dave accomplished so much in his life time. Dave excelled at university and was an honour student. He gave scholarships away as a result of his own needs when he was a student. Dave was very proud of his Wendy's restaurants. He was a dedicated leader and mentor for his staff. Dave was also a gardener and his back yard was full of beautiful flowers and herbs. He was a real chef and Lori and him invited us over for wonderful meals. I'm sure Lori helped a lot. He was very generous and donated to many causes. He even shopped at Costco buying well needed toiletries for numerous shelters. Dave was avid golfer and I can now imagine him golfing at the Oaks. He golfed for numerous events. Many were for various charities. Dave was a blessing and his memory a treasure. He is loved beyond words. Dave touched the hearts of everyone. I will carry his memory in my heart forever.

Tears on my toast: Sunday morning and you’re not here I sit in your seat thinking of you, Then tears fall onto my toast. You left me and now I fear, Nights are lonely, and the world is scary without you. You left me way too soon. Unrealized plans and unrealized dreams, Now I have realized the pain of losing you. At least now you are at peace, At least I hope you are, As I sit in your seat thinking of you, With tears on my toast.
