Daphne Alice Gopaul

Daphne Alice Gopaul passed away peacefully at home in her 85th year. Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother; her steadfast, kind and loving presence will be dearly missed.

Immediately upon leaving school in England, Daphne trained as a laboratory scientist, and worked in that profession until she retired in 2005. It was while training in England that she met her husband, Darryl, and set off for a life of adventure in Canada in 1967.

Daphne loved birdwatching, astronomy, and travelling, circumnavigating the globe with her husband, Darryl, in 2000. She had a natural affinity for animals, and loved nothing better than to sit in the garden and watch the hummingbirds that, without fail, came to her feeders every spring. With her gentle personality, her generosity, and her calm, graceful presence, she will be remembered by her many friends and family for her warm and loving heart.

Born in London, England to Henry Hogg and Ellen (née Coomber) Hogg, Daphne is survived by her daughters Tanya and Laura; her grandson Archer; her cousins both here and in the UK, and her many Gopaul nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in-law, all of whom she loved and treasured in her heart.

Daphne has been privately cremated according to her wishes. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation.
