My sincere condolences, Margaret, Xavier, and your extended family. I worked with Dan at UWOFA and will remember his kind, good-natured spirit. We will all do well to express those traits as often as possible. Vanessa Frank
Dan will be greatly missed by all of his scientific family and friends. He was a very gentle soul who always offered and provided any support, help or guidance that he could. I am truly grateful that I got to spend part of my own life working with Dan when he was a young scientist and will always treasure those memories.
Sincere condolences from the Friyia family.
Dan was a beloved friend and colleague; he will be so dearly missed by so many. Dan was a leader in every sense of the word, teaching everyone around him so much about leadership, service, kindness, empathy, and compassion. Dan was a wonderful human being and a true friend. I feel so blessed to have known him. Thinking of you, Marg and Xavier, and sending all of my love and prayers.
I had the pleasure of participating in the Health Studies Student Association under Dr. Belliveau's leadership of the School while I was a student at Western several years ago. Dr. Belliveau's support of the HSSA's activities was instrumental to enhancing not only my student experience, but those of all my peers in the program. The news of Dr. Belliveau's passing saddens me greatly and I will remember him fondly for his love of working with and supporting students inside, and just as importantly, outside of the classroom.
Marg and family.I was so saddened to hear of Dan's passing and wanted to send my heart felt love and hugs to you.
Our deepest sympathies to you and your son We will miss Danny OUR PRAYERS WILL BE WITH YOU ALL TOMORROW AS WE LISTEN TO THE CEREMONY ON TV WITH ALL THE BOUCHER / BELLIVEAU and YOUNG
Dear Marg, My thoughts are with you and Xavier at this sad and difficult time. Hang onto the beautiful memories and all of the love you share with Dan. Sending you a big hug.
Dr. Belliveau was an amazing professor and mentor and I feel fortunate to have been able to learn from him! I don't think I'd have the career I have now without him. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Dear Marg and Xavier, Our sincere condolences on the loss of your precious husband and dad. Our hearts are broken to hear of this news and we hope that your memories of time spent together as a family can be a blessing and a comfort to you. Dan was first of all a parent and then a Board Member of the Whitehills Childcare Association for many years. We will always remember him as one of the nicest, most personable, thoughtful, intelligent and professional people you could ever meet and an incredible family man. You are in our thoughts.
Dan was a friend and a colleague. I will remember Dan for his kindness, sincerity and for constantly putting others ahead of him himself. He was always welcoming and friendly and regardless of where I would see him, it would make my day better. Thinking of Marg, Xavier and Dan's other family during this difficult time.
Dear Marg, Xavier, and extended family, I'm so sad about Dan's passing. As roommates at St. F.X. Dan and I quickly became great friends and I have many happy memories of those years. I'm glad that we stayed in touch over the decades. Even though we didn't see each other often, when we did get together it was just like old times. It was clear that his family meant the world to Dan. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Dan will be deeply missed by so many.
My deepest condolences on the passing of Dr. Belliveau. I took 3 courses with him as an undergraduate before pursuing a career in medicine. He would send me congratulatory messages years after graduation when I had career updates on linkedin. He was a professor that genuinely cared and still reached out to students years after graduation. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to learn from him. He was truly a caring, compassionate and brilliant educator who will be missed. May he rest in eternal glory. Margaret and Xavier, you are in my prayers.
To the Belliveau Family, My deepest condolences on Dan's passing. I was blessed to be able to work with Dan during his recent years at StFX. Dan had a deep sense of fairness and compassion, and approached all situations with calmness and reason. He hit the ground running and came up to speed on issues so quickly because he cared so deeply. He made everyone around him feel like all situations were in hand. He was a true leader. Dan has gone far too soon. He will be missed by all of us. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
Dan was someone who quickly earned my respect and that of our colleagues despite us not knowing him very long. The dedication and consideration he showed made him a pleasure to work with and to know. My thoughts are with you, Xavier, and with your family. There are no words to express how sorry I am for your loss. Rest in peace, Dan.
My deepest condolences to you and your family. I'm grateful to have known Dan through his generous collaborations with the Centre for Teaching and Learning at Western. Dan was a champion for students everywhere, and one of the kindest people I've ever had the privilege of knowing. He will be greatly missed.
It is with deep sadness that we, the Young family send our deepest condolences. Danny was such a kind soul that loved and appreciated life. It was obvious that his family meant the world to him. He fought and unbelievable battle with such courage and determination. Despite the fact that he was taken from all of us way too early , we are relieved that his suffering is finally over. May he Rest In Peace. GAIL GIROUARD (THELMA, DEBBIE AND SHARON)
My deepest sympathies to all of Dan's family. Dan was an extremely talented and dedicated instructor whose deep caring for his students came across in all my interactions with him. Dan was an integral part of our Teaching Support centre family for many years at Western. His love of teaching made him a role model to colleagues across campus. His contributions to enhancing teaching and learning will be remembered for many years to come. When Dan moved to St. FX I knew they were receiving a real treasure. I will miss him. , Deb
Marg and Xavier, sending heartfelt condolences to you both. Wishing you strength and comfort at this very difficult time.
Dear Marg and Xavier I was saddened to hear of Dan's passing. I hope that the happy memories you have had as a family help you through the days ahead. " The song may be over but the melody lingers on" Sending hugs! Val Rousom
Dear Marg, I'm so sorry to learn about the recent loss of your beloved husband Dan. You both put everything you had into conquering the many hurdles put in your way. Such a testament to your unwavering commitment to each other. Wishing you, Xavier and all your family peace and comfort at this sad time, and beautiful memories to cherish.
My deepest condolences on the passing of Dr. Belliveau. I have known Dr. B since my days as an undergraduate student at Western. I was lucky to have Dr. B as my professor for numerous courses and as my supervisor for my fourth year Independent Study Project. Dr. B was a supportive mentor and never failed to offer his guidance or send someone to unlock the anatatorium for me when I was stuck on campus working on the project late at night! Outside of the classroom, I also had the opportunity to work with Dr.B and his PhD student on a project intended to ease the transition process for high school students entering into their first year at Western. It was evident how invested Dr. B was in the success of current and future students of the Faculty of Health Sciences. After my time at Western, Dr.B continued to provide his guidance and support. He wrote me numerous reference letters, connected me to others that he felt could help me achieve my personal career aspirations and always took the time to catch-up and fill me in on all things new and exciting at Western or St.FX. Dr. B possesses a true gift -the ability to see potential in others and help them recognize it within themselves. There are few professors that have had such an influential role in my academic career and I am forever grateful for the lessons and support. Dr. B, you will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
My prayers are with you. Remember the good times and may the memories help you through this difficult time.
Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. Dan was a tremendous colleague at StFX. I will miss him for his deep concern for students, their well being, his commitment to equity and inclusion, and the genuine excited and boundless energy he brought to his work and to StFX.
My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to you Margaret and Xavier and your families. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May all your special memories of Daniel surround you and give you strength in the days ahead. May time help you heal and bring you peace.
Prof. Belliveau was such a passionate professor, and I will forever remember his lectures and the care he put into each class. I had him as my professor for only one course, had always heard such wonderful things about him as a teacher. Good teachers are rare, and I was so lucky to have him teach me.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I was saddened to hear about Dan's death. I will pray for your family's peace and comfort.
Prof. Belliveau was an amazing professor. I remember coming into my undergrad health science degree and having Prof. Belliveau lead a writing camp session. I instantly knew I wanted to take at least one of his courses by the time I graduated. It took me 4 years but when I was finally in one of his classes I could not have had a better experience. Thoughtful, caring and extremely well prepared, every class felt better than the next. When the class was finished and it was time to move on, I was at peace with the fact that the man I started my journey at UWO with, was who I got to finish up my undergrad with as well.
I knew Dan from the time he was agrad student -he was one of the nicest people I have ever known
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Xavier. We were saddened to hear about Dan's death from Roger. We thought of your family when we were home this summer and walking around St. F. X. From reading the condolences, it looked like he touched a lot of peoples lives. Thinking of you all.

Dan was a colleague in the fullest sense. He listened carefully to the words of others and his words were insightful and judiciously thought out. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
I am deeply saddened by the news of Dan's passing. I was fortunate enough to have had the distinct honour and privilege of being Dan's colleague for several years on the UWOFA Board as well as on two Negotiating Teams. Dan's calmness, his steadying influence, his wisdom, his good humour, and his abiding kindness proved powerful and lasting examples to all of us who worked closely with him. Dan was a good friend and a valued mentor whose loss will be felt by so, so many. My condolences to his family.
My condolences to all the family.
There are some lessons we learn in school and some lessons we learn in life. I feel so blessed to have known an educator who taught me so much about both. Knowing and learning from someone like Dan over the past few years was an honour. Dan treated his students with respect, and always expressed genuine excitement for other people's dreams. He was always there, willing to help us grow, and encouraging us to believe in ourselves. He will be deeply missed. His strength and resilience were admirable, and I will remember him as an exceptional mentor, leader, educator, and human being. His kindness touched the lives of his many students and colleagues. My sincerest condolences to Dan's family.
On behalf of the Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology at Western, our deepest condolences to Marg, Xavier and family. Dan was an amazing colleague and friend throughout my career as a faculty member here at Western - from first welcoming and mentoring me as a brand new faculty recruit, to sharing stories and mishaps of our kids as they grew up, to serving as a wise peer leader as we progressed through our careers. Dan will be fondly remembered as calm, kind, giving and dedicated to his students, colleagues and family. He will be greatly missed by all.

Dear Marg and Xavier, Katherine and I found Dan to be one of the most positive individuals that we have known. His kind and gentle spirit reflected his will to always look for the good in life no matter what the circumstances. Away from the work place we also got to know Dan as a family man and a friend. He was always the calm voice in the room bringing insightful and thoughtful words to any conversation. Although we have not connected as much in the last decade we always considered him a a good friend. We trust that Dan has found some peace after a long battle. Dear Margaret and Family, Thinking of you at this most difficult ,heartbreaking time and sending you condolences and prayers for strength .
I had the pleasure of being taught by Dr Belliveau while a student at Western. He was a remarkable professor and leader and I was fortunate that he introduced me to Marg, where I was able to undertake a placement in the antenatal unit. I owe many thanks that this connection stemmed into allowing me to gain an interest and passion in nursing. His passion for teaching will never be forgotten and sadly the health studies community lost a major pillar. Marg, I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your son and all your loved ones during this difficult time.
I have known Dan since when he was a graduate student in anatomy doing his Ph.D. Then we become good friends and he encouraged me to join Western faculty association union in its beginning in 1989-99 . He was a strategic thinker, a visionary who was brilliant, innovative, and creative. As such, he contributed much to the development of both Western University and the faculty association . He generously gave us his knowledge, his expertise, his skills, I will miss you, Dan , your memory will never fade.
I knew Dan as a graduate student and, later, as a colleague. Such a fine person; such a loss to all of us. May his memory be a blessing.
Dan's Light will continue to live in all of us fortunate to know him. He was a remarkable colleague and a graceful leader with a gift to balance and stabilize any situation. I am deeply grateful for kindness, acceptance, compassion, respect and relentless zest for life he taught me. Sincere condolences to Marg and Xavier, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Marg and Xavier - No words can express my sincere sadness for your loss of your Husband and father - too young! I remember so fondly the hours we spent at the Oakridge hockey games. Mike and I were so proud of our grandson, Michael Clare. Xavier, it did not take more than one game to know exactly who you were and add you to our cheering list. I still have the red/white/black team scarves that we wore so proudly for all of you. Marg, meeting you and Dan was truly a blessing in our life and will never be forgotten. Your friendship and acceptance of Mike and I as very proud Grandparents was simply "the icing on the cake". You are in my prayers and on the St. John's Anglican Church prayer cycle. Dan will be sadly missed by so many people. Some comfort is knowing that he is truly at 'peace'. God Bless you Marg and Xavier and Family

My sincere condolences to Dan's family. I knew that Dan was an active faculty member at Western , but my personal experiences with him were at the annual Thames Valley Science and Engineering Fair. He was a judge for the Intermediate and Senior Life Sciences projects and my right hand in recording scores on the whiteboard and helping with discussions as to which projects were worthy of medals. He never hesitated to help me, and I really appreciated his professionalism and kindness. I am saddened by his passing, all too soon.
Sending my condolences to Marg and Xavier! My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time!
Margaret, sorry to have learned of Dan passing. I am happy that you and Xavier had the extra time with him. I guess the good Lord could not wait any longer. May memories of Dan live long and prosper in your heart!
Dan Belliveau served as the Undergrad Chair/Director during my terms as student president. His leadership was very meaningful to me as he always made time for our council meetings, ideas and program. His support allowed us to thrive as a student council, always keen to enrich the student experience. I will always remember sitting in one of his anatomy classes where he had these gimmicks to show how the human body worked. His interactive classroom activities transformed students from passive observers to active players; and his passion for anatomy and teaching was infectious. On a personal level, his guidance went beyond the classroom. After I graduated, I loved to share photos with him about where I was in the public health world, and his door was always open when I returned to campus to visit as an alumni. I credit Prof. Dan Belliveau with being one of the most influential people in my career. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I will miss him greatly as a teacher, mentor and friend.
I had the pleasure of teaching martial arts to Xavier several years ago and getting to know Dan well at that time. He was a great man and leader. I am so sorry for your loss.

He enriched the lives of those around him, and my deepest condolences to Marg & Xavier - he will be deeply missed within the community.

Dear Marg. This is very sad news. I have known Dan for 30+ years, first as graduate students, then as teammates, then as colleagues. Most importantly, I knew him as friend. Dan influenced many people during his too short time on this earth and I am fortunate to say I was one of those. There are few people I have met that shared Dan's optimism, and even fewer that would do so through the hurdles put in his way. He was, and continues to be, a phenomenal roll model for all. My condolences and prayers are with you and Xavier during the difficult time.
Marg, Xavier and Family, I am so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Marg and Xavier, we are saddened to hear of Dan's passing. Please accept our deepest condolences. He has always been a kind and caring man. We will keep you in our prayers and trust that good memories will sustain you through this difficult time.
I am thinking of you both during this very difficult time. May you cherish the many fond memories you and Xavier have shared together as a very special family.

Dan was one of the kindest, nicest, most caring and generous people I have ever met. He was a hard-working, involved and committed academic and a real pleasure to work with in various settings. My sympathies to his family, his friends, and his colleagues.
Dear Marg and Xavier, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of loss and sadness for you.
Very sad news. I know Dan's friends as individuals and UWOFA as a collective will long remember how wonderful Dan was as a person and how much he accomplished in his work for UWOFA. I have met few people with as much cheer and spirit as Dan. It is very welcome to hear that UWOFA will honour his memory through two awards. Also, Western fittingly lowered its flag to half-mast.
My deepest sympathies to Marg and Xavier. I am deeply saddened by Dan's passing. He was a friend and mentor. His work ethic, commitment, and compassion for all was second to none. He always brought a sense of optimism to all our discussions, providing calm and insightful guidance. I always looked forward to our weekly coffee chats and I know that I will continue to miss these times of his sage advice.
Dan was a respected colleague and personal mentor for me in many ways. He held the title of Faculty of Health Sciences Teaching Fellow immediately prior to me, and it was his guidance and support that helped me through that role. He was a strong but respectful leader, had a calm dry sort of wit that I often found hilarious, and a tremendously kind man in a way I hope to emulate. While the world has lost a good man, those of us who were touched by him are all better for it. I'm very sorry for your loss.
So sorry to hear of Dan's passing - deepest sympathies and condolences to Marg and all of Dan's family. He was indeed one of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of knowing.
My thoughts are with Dan's family and friends in this time of sorrow. I worked with Dan on the UWOFA Board and was inspired by his quiet leadership.
Margaret & Xavier, Thinking of you and sending you peace and condolences and I am so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine the space in your hearts that will be feeling empty without him- from the stories I have heard of Dan and how wonderful he was, but I know you have so many wonderful memories together that you will hold close with you that I hope will bring you some comfort in this difficult time. Chantal
In the many years I knew Dan at Western and at St.FX, he always displayed great integrity and respect for the people around him and for the institution he represented. He was soft-spoken, measured, and brought a sense of humor and decorum to every event in which he was involved. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. All of our lives have been enriched by Dan. May his memory be a blessing, and may the standard he set in the academy be honored and revered.
Dear Margaret and family: The NICU family are all very sad to hear about the passing away of Dan. We knew he was fighting a tough foe in his latter years, but we were inspired by his bravery and his continuing efforts to improve the welfare of the faculty and staff of Western throughout the fight. I knew you long before I met with Dan as a graduate student. I have great respect for Dan's contribution but also admire your bravery during his fight. We miss your smiling face and enthusiasm in our NICU. Our deepest condolences from your NICU family.

Our deepest heartfelt condolences to his family in London and especially his family in New Brunswick. You are in our thoughts.
Dan's contributions to the University of Western Ontario and our Faculty Association (UWOFA) have had a lasting impact on students, staff, and faculty colleagues. He provided invaluable leadership at the Faculty Association, the School of Health Studies, Western's Convocation ceremonies and the Pension & Benefits Committee. He also worked at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and with the Centre for Teaching & Learning at Western, with a passion for teaching and for service. Dan's passing has been a tremendous loss to our community.
I am so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. I admired his integrity, commitment and kindness. He was a terrific individual. My condolences to family, friends and colleagues on this sad loss.
I am deeply sorry for Dan's passing. I was incredibly fortunate to be Dan's next-door office neighbour for five years, and in that time I got to observe his steady and calm demeanour, humour, kindness, compassion, dedication to his colleagues, students, and family, and his abiding sense of humanity on a daily basis. I am truly blessed to have had this vantage point. Dan had the special ability to see the best in people. Despite his many personal and professional commitments, he was never too busy for a word with a colleague, and he made those around him feel truly seen and heard. Dan was a rare kind of leader and someone I will never forget. Marg and Xavier - Words can't adequately express how sorry I am for your loss. We are all better for having shared time with Dan, and he will be deeply missed. Andrea (School of Health Studies)

Dan was a perfect gentleman and a role model for all. In the two decades I kew him as a friend and colleague, I never heard him utter an unkind word. I will always fondly remember the "Texas Hold-Em" evenings that Dan organized and hosted, full of good times and good cheer.
