Dale Bradfield
June 4, 1944 - January 14, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dale Bradfield in his 79th year, on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Dale was predeceased by his partner, Fran Johnston (2009). Lovingly remembered by his children, Dale Matthew (Charlotte), Trina (Brad), Dan (Michelle) and their mother Lynda. Cherished and sadly missed by his grandchildren Jackson, Seth, Morgan and Avery. Dale was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario. He was the third of five children born to the late Cliff and Edna Bradfield. He was a devoted brother to Hazel (John, 2005), Ron (Bonnie), Ralph (Sally) and Randy (Donna). He was loved by many nieces and nephews and a trusted friend.
Dale called Port Burwell home until he began his long career at Ford Motor Company in Oakville and Ford Talbotville from 1964-2001. In retirement, he returned to the sandy shores of Lake Erie to enjoy a life he loved as the owner and Captain of Deep Secrets Fishing Charters. A life that included fixing, fishing and family. If it was broken, he loved helping others using his electronic and technical skills. If he was fishing, strangers became friends. Above all else, his family was first, forever and always. He also enjoyed many years as a Commissionaire. Friendships with students and colleagues were formed as he became a familiar face at high schools throughout London. Our dad was a fan of life, ending each day with courage and hope for a better tomorrow.
Our family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to his dedicated home care nurse and friend (Steph), Dr. Parr, Dr. Vincent and Charlene.
In keeping with Dale’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

I worked with Dale at St. Thomas Aquinas where he brilliantly served as a commissionaire. I was just mentioning on Friday how much Dale used to do here for the students above and beyond his job description. He was the locker guy. If you needed in, he'd get you in. He knew every student by name, and had earned a special respect from those who were a bit harder to serve. Catching kids vaping in the bathroom, kicking them out of somewhere they shouldn't be, preventing uncountable number of fights whether food or fists; every student here knew that Dale respected them, and they resected him in turn. You can't fake caring, and it's the only thing that matters . Dale cared and cared deeply.... I didn't know Dale outside of work hours. Boy do I wish I did. He made people around him better, and I thank him for that. May God bless him and keep him, and may he rest well knowing that he made a difference. My sincere condolences to the family of my good friend Dale. We go back a long way and I have a lot of great memories. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
We wish to express our deepest condolences to the Bradfield families. A lifetime friend.
So sorry to hear of Dale’s passing. Our condolences to all the family. We have many wonderful memories of Dale and Fran and our years together with the Country Rose dance group. The regular dances, exhibitions, and trips to the U.S. Pool parties and BBQs. All the good times. Dale was my go to guy for advice and/or repair on my electronics and car problems. We never saw Dale without a smile on his face. RIP my friend……. Keith and Marilyn

I was a student at STA during the same time Dale worked there as a commissionaire. Dale had a genuine care for all the student. While we didn’t always make his job easy, he always would take time out of his day to talk to us as friends rather then just students. He would show up to high-school hockey games, and even once bought my friend a sandwich who had forgotten his lunch. He will be missed greatly among the students.
