December 14, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Coomarasamy Tailampallam shares the news of his passing on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the age of 93, at home, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
He is predeceased by his mother, Sivakolunthu and father, Tailampallam; first wife, Parimalam; and brothers, Shanmugam, Selvaratnam and Dr. Paramanantham. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rajaladchumy. He leaves behind his eight children: Sooriyakumaran (Vijayamala Coomar), Thayalakumaran (Vijayadevi Velauthapillai), Parimala (Joseph Edward), Jayakumaran (Pathma Coomar), Priyatharisini, Balakumaran (Sharmain Kumar), Nirmala (Sothynathan Nagalingam) and Manjula (Dennis Evans); and nine grandchildren: Dr. Meera (Robert Lanteigne) and Dr. Radha Joseph, Christina Coomar, Rhea, Emily and Karina Kumar, Mayuri and Mithila Sothynathan, and Justin Coomar.
Coomarasamy was born in Malaysia on June 11, 1929. He moved to his family’s home in Jaffna, Sri Lanka at the tender age of eight months. There, he dedicated many years to developing the rural areas of his province as a Rural Development Officer (R.D.O.), helping those who were most in need. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1983. He embraced the challenge of settling in a new country, and was proud to start a business that continues on in the family today. He grew to love Canada as his beloved home. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, sense of duty, strong will, playfulness, wit and humour, and protective guiding hand. To the very end, he highly valued his independence, finding creative ways to accomplish his daily tasks. He lived a full life, enjoying all of the small and big moments, and treasuring how precious life is.
He was the most devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate to be showered with his love.
His family extends their heartfelt thanks to his personal support worker Ruthann Beharry, his palliative care outreach physicians, Dr. Jill Chettiar and Dr. Kirk Hamilton, and the nurses and personal support workers at ParaMed, for the kindness and dedication with which they supported his care.
