Clarence Russell Betterley
November 2, 2013
Unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, November 2nd, 2013, at the age of 83. Loving husband of the late Olive Annie Tulett (February 9, 2013). Survived by his daughter Patricia Ann Weits. The last remaining family member of Alfred and Elsie Betterley of R.R. #2 Glanworth. Predeceased by 6 brothers and 2 sisters: John, Ivan, Carl, Roy, Norma Pickell, Shirley Wise, Orley and Alvin. Russ was a great supporter of the N.D.P. and Labour movement. His greatest career satisfaction was when he was President of PUC Local 4 CUPE. He won the new Pension Contract with the PUC that included the OMERS Pension Fund, although getting this included a 10 day strike! Russ took pride in how many of his brothers and sisters in the union retired with a good pension, as did he when he retired in 1991. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Byron Family Medical Centre and also to the staff at Byron’s Shoppers Drug Mart. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 6th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Russ are asked to consider the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.

Russ and Olive will be missed. They were a great couple and we enjoyed seeing them every spring as we completed their income tax returns for many years. Our thoughts and prayers will be said for them in heaven. Tom & Lois Dwyer
