Charles Ivan Belbeck

November 20, 1925 - August 31, 2022

With a smile, Charles went to join his mother, sister, and two fathers on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Born on November 20, 1925 in Simcoe, Charles was raised in Port Dover, Ontario. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family at age 96 years old. Charles was the proud father to his five children, who mourn his passing. He was also a very proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren, 16 great-children, and 2 great-grandchildren, whom he loved to hear about.

At the young age of 16, Charles enlisted into the Canadian Navy with his mother’s blessing on March 26, 1943. He proudly served for five years and three months on the HMSC Mic Mac, Quinte, and Nipigon. In 1957, Charles began his own Industrial Overhead Door business until 1985. He loved fishing with his buddies, and especially his sons and grandsons. He was passionate about playing guitar and singing – he had a song for everyone, even the nurses at the Waverly Mansion Retirement Home, where he lived from 2011. He loved to dance and flirt with the nurses who we can only sing praises about for their care of him.

Cremation has taken place, and a private burial will follow. The family would like to thank everyone who touched our father’s life. Thank you to Dr. Monroe, HCCS, LHIN, and the St. Elizabeth Society.

He will be missed but what we carry in our hearts will carry us on.

In lieu of flowers, please give your loved ones a hug.

Love ya, Dad. 10-4.

Our deepest condolences to the Belbeck family. We have very fond memories of Charles. Such a gentleman with a sweet and caring personality. Always wearing a smile and cracking a joke. Loved it when he would visit his Uncle Joe's and Aunt Gen's, singing and playing his guitar was one of our favourite memories. Chuck was my godfather and even though I had not seen or talked to him in over 20 years, this was sad news. I have a lot of fond memories that I will always cherish. RIP. Dan

Sending my heartfelt condolences to Charlie's family. My father, Stewart Lethbridge worked for Richards Wilcox and talked often of Charlie. My father was also in the navy, and I am sure they shared many tales. Sending love and prayers.
