My heart goes out to everyone in the Dales and Walters families and all of Cathy and Shirley's friends. I was first introduced to the great Dales family when I taught Steve, Scott and Michelle. We ask ourselves at a time like this what is dying? A ship sails and we stand watching till she fades on the horizon, and someone at my side says, "She is gone." Gone? Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all; she is just as large as when we saw her......The diminished size and total loss of sight is in me, not in her, and just at the moment when someone at my side says "she is gone." there are others who are watching her coming, and other voices take up a glad shout, " there she comes!".......and that is dying thinking of all of you during this difficult time and may it comfort you to know that she will be waiting on the other side for our arrivals.

What I remember most about Cathy is her smile, always there, always positive. I remember the days we worked at Hammonds back in the 80s and the pranks we use to play. I remember at one point my shoes hanging on the moving paint line ready to dunk in the black varnish tank! The time she called the radio station and had me pranked before my wedding to inform me that my bridesmaid dresses weren’t going to be ready in time for the wedding. Cathy what a great women. Cathy always took an interest in your life. When I was down, she would pick me up. I can't remember a time when she was not looking out for everyone. Cathy would always go above and beyond the call of duty well at work. Cathy was more then dependable, she was irreplaceable. Cathy loved life, family and her colleagues. Cathy was a very special person - she made the whole world smile. Even those difficult coaches, ended up loving her on the diamond. She was one of the best partners to umpire with... always having fun while doing a great job. Very much respected. I had the pleasure of working many games with Cathy, some of the finest. Will treasure the time on and off the diamond. So glad we had the opportunity to spend some time together this past summer, to share those memories. Her smile and laughter are forever etched in our minds and in our hearts. My thoughts are with all that had the pleasure to call her a friend, and her family.

I first met Cathy , Kate as I called her over 20 years ago just after the City annexed us in 93 after a few years we ended up working together at the WROC , we shared a lot of laughs , a few drinks at Hooks and our hockey clubhouse , we plowed streets ,hauled sweepings, fixed roads ,patched roads and there wouldn't be anybody better than Kate to have work beside you , a few years back she left our work area but whenever I heard her kn two way radio always had to say hello to her . She was her own woman and not afraid to stand up for herself , which I admired , she would also put a few guys at work to shame with her work ethics . Kate I'm gonna miss the texts for your street to be plowed or the texts on my birthday which you never forgot . I could go on and on you will always be one of my favorite person I have met at the City . My family sends our condolences to your wife and to rest of your family , I know they meant a lot to you .
