Catherine Etta Beverly (nee Shortt)

May 28, 2018

Catherine passed with her family around her, on her own terms, on Monday, May 28th, 2018 at London Health Sciences Centre, in her 84th year. Known as “Ca” to all who loved her, she was the best friend and loving wife of Jim for 61 years; devoted mother to Susan and John (Kim); and delighted grandmother of Alex, Carys, Brooke and Catherine. She will be missed by her brother, Stan (Shirley), niece Jill (Jay R.), nephew Rob (Liza), great-niece Delaney and great-nephew Greyson, as well as cousins and numerous friends. A talented artist and enthusiastic bridge player, gardener, bowler and golfer, Ca was born in Toronto, spent idyllic summers in Muskoka, but spent her last and arguably happiest 27 years in London, Ontario, where she remained an active member of the London Newcomers’ Alumni. Thank you to the fine physicians, nurses and staff at London Health Sciences Centre who treated our beloved Ca and our family with such kindness and compassion. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ca are asked to consider the London Health Sciences Foundation.

“The world is a far better place for having had Ca in it.
We will miss her terribly.”
