Catherine ‘Cathy’ Mary Wade

December 17, 2021

It is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden death of our beloved Wife, Mom and Grandma. Cathy passed away during heart valve surgery on Friday, December 17, 2021, at the age of 75. Loving wife to Bob of 50 years; amazing mother to Sarah and Emily; doting Grandma to James, Georgina and Kindrie; loving mother-in law to Jon; adoring sibling to Mike Doyle; and a wonderful friend to many. Cathy was a phenomenal teacher and librarian for over 40 years. She enjoyed travelling to see her grandchildren. Cathy was a long time social bridge player and met many friends through these times. Her gourmet group was a strong part of her life with the Martins, Cranes and Scotts for over 35 years. She looked forward to her ladies weekend every year and so enjoyed the laughs from those times. Cathy was an avid walker around her Westmount neighbourhood and many former students would always call out “Hello Mrs. Wade.” She will be missed by many. Memorial service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m., with a reception to follow. For those unable to attend the service, the family welcomes you to participate in the service via livestream. We are sad beyond words to think of this special lady leaving us all- a loving , thoughtful mum and grandma to our daughter-in-law and shared grandchildren , a loving wife , and a bright , elegant, feisty lady in her own right- it came without warning , and far too soon. Much love to Bob, Em, and Sarah and the 3 grandkids

Sarah, Emily, Bob and families. We were sorry to hear of Mom passing. What a shock for everyone. Sarah, being such a close friend to our daughter we got to know your mom and as years have passed, I used to run into Mom in the grocery store often and we would play catch-up on the lives of our kids. Always with smiles on our faces and a few stories to recall. Mothers and daughters have special bonds. John and I send the family our thoughts, prayers, love and hugs.

~ John and Maxine Sweeney

My condolences to Bob, Sarah, Emily and extended family. I worked alongside Cathy in the library at Westmount and we had some great times together. She was also our favourite go to occasional teacher before she joined the staff full time. She had a great sense of humor and a wonderful sense of style. She will be missed.

During her time working at Westmount P.S. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to often share lunches with Cathy at The Palasad.
