Catherine ‘Cathy’ Elizabeth Maguire

December 19, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine Elizabeth Maguire announces her peaceful passing following a two-year battle with cancer on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in London, Ontario, at the age of 61. Cathy was a registered nurse at LHSC and spent 35 years caring for others. She was most recently working on the Mother Baby Care Unit with new mothers and babies. Cathy and her husband, Doug married in August of 1988 and had two wonderful children. Cathy was very proud of their accomplishments in life. Her most recent joy was spending time with her almost two-year-old grandson, Kayden.

Cathy is survived by her beloved husband, Doug; children, Amanda (Dave) Mueller and Ryan Maguire (Francesca); sister, Ann (Bill) Ropp; sister-in-law, Pam Taylor; brother, Jeff (Julie) Taylor; and grandson, Kayden Mueller. Cathy is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Cathy was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Betty Taylor and brother, Chris Taylor. Cathy will also be missed by her wonderful nursing friends, travelling friends and her furry companion, Maggie.

The family would like to express our deepest appreciation for the care and support given to Cathy and family members during her final days at St. Joseph’s Hospice. The family would also like to thank Dr. Raphael and his staff at the London Regional Cancer Clinic, Dr. Chu and the staff on C7 medical oncology at LHSC, as well as Dr. Hamilton and all the home care staff that cared for Cathy.

Cremation has taken place and at Cathy’s request there will be no funeral service. A family tribute will be held with immediate family members only at this time. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of Cathy’s life will be held in the spring. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Cathy are asked to consider the LHSC – Regional Cancer Clinic or St. Joseph’s Hospice.
