Carolyn Marie Horn (née Banks)
February 7, 2023
It is with profound heartbreak that we announce the passing of Carolyn Marie Horn of London, in her 63rd year. Surrounded by loved ones, Carolyn passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital, on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of John Alexander Horn for 39 years. Loving mother of Alexander (Kristen) and David. Predeceased by her parents Douglas and Marie Banks. Dear sister to Randall Banks (Monique). A special mention goes to Darryl and Cathie Banks, who loved Carolyn like a second daughter. Loved by parents-in-law Ronney and Evelyn Horn. Sister-in-law of Sandra and Peter Hamilton, Graeme and Karen Horn and Neil Horn. Fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her best friend Jackie Hietkamp; cousins Janice Stewart and Margot Menzies; and sister-in-law Karen Horn, for being there for Carolyn throughout her courageous battle. Carolyn had a vast knowledge of the banking industry and had spent most of her career in banking. She had a love for travel and spending time at the family cottage. In later years, she enjoyed hiking or riding her e-bike along the trails and paths that are scattered throughout London. Carolyn was very witty, had a fantastic sense of humour and was very good at impressions. Most of all Carolyn loved her “Boys.” We will miss her more than words can convey. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. A livestream of the service will be available for those unable to attend in person.

It is with great sadness that I read of Carolyn's passing today. She gave me my first job, and I have so many wonderful memories of her! She handed me responsibility as a young woman, when I certainly did not have the confidence or the belief in myself. She always treated me respectfully and professionally, and I will always remember her with extreme fondness. My heartfelt sympathy to John, and to her sons, and to all of those that loved her.
One of the nicest and Sweetest mom's of anyone I've known. I remember whenever I was over visiting David and they would have supper, she always made a place for me at the table. I remember David and I would go frog and snake catching and sometimes when my mom would pick me up, David and I would do some kind of a little show for them. John, David and Alex, so very sorry. Just one of the most pleasant human beings I got to know, sadly only for a short time.
John, Alex, and David, we are deeply saddened by this loss. A great neighbour and wonderful person, her shining smile and laugh were a pleasure to be around. I will miss the chance to run into her and share our stories of the wildlife. Our hearts are with you. Patt, John, Eric, Cole
John & Family Today and always, may loving memories bring you peace, comfort and strength. Our deepest sympathy.
My heartfelt condolences on your family's loss. Having had the opportunity to work with Carolyn for a number of years, her humor and positivity was felt by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed. May her memory be eternal.
Sorry for your loss John, thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time
Deepest sympathy to the Horn and Banks families, I have only fond memories of working with Carolyn, we laughed a lot, she had so much knowledge and was always willing to help. Her Scottish accent was my favourite. She will be missed so much
Our condolences to you and your family John. Wishing you strength and comfort from family and friends at this difficult time.
Our deepest sympathy, thought and prayers go out to you John and your family.
My thoughts and prayers go to John, Alexander and David through this hard time. Deeply sorry for your loss. She fought so hard. She will be deeply missed.

I had just heard of Carolyn's passing today. Words cannot begin to do her justice, or to describe the immense amount of pain that we all feel over her loss. I am so so sorry to all of the friends, and family of Carolyn - - she was such a tender soul!
