Carol McGlynn
January 22, 2025
Peacefully, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Carol McGlynn of London, at the age of 77. Beloved wife of the late David McGlynn (Oct 2024). Dear mother of David, Julie Evans (Mike), and John (Melissa). Cherished Nanna of Noël, and Lily McGlynn, Ellie, Jack, and Harry Evans; Lucy, James, and Lewis McGlynn. Sister-in-law of Jimmy (Rosina), Tommy (Sylvia), Mary (the late Dave), John (Cathy), Karen (the late Joe), and Robert (Michelle). Carol will be missed by her sister Gaynor Mather (Warren) and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, James Woods.
As a teenager, Carol spent her time with friends soaking up the vibrant music scene in Liverpool, England, at the local clubs. She fondly told stories of seeing her favourite band, the Beatles, at the Cavern Tavern. When Carol was 16, she met and fell in love with 17-year-old Davey at Meols Caravan Park. They set out on adventures up and down England’s coast with friends, most notably her cousin and best friend Barbara (Stan).
Their biggest adventure was to London, Ontario, Canada, where they would set up new roots and start a family. After many years of dedicating her love and time to raising her three children, Carol worked until retirement at the UWO Bookstore.
Carol was known for her laughter, love of fashion, unconditional love, and kindness to her family, friends, and everyone she encountered. Although Carol made Canada her home, she never forgot her home in Liverpool, and a piece of her heart always remained. Carol has left a lasting mark through her unconditional love, devotion to time, and commitment to her family, friends, and her greatest joys—her grandchildren.
A private family celebration of life for Carol will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carol can be made to the McCormick Care Foundation – Day Program.
