Carol Lynne Telford
February 11, 2017
Passed away with family by her side at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London on February 11, 2017 after a 9-year battle, well fought, with multiple myeloma. She was 70 years of age. Carol was the beloved wife and best friend of Peter Telford for 49 years. She was the devoted mother of Jessica (Jesse) and Matt (Brittany) and the proud grandmother of her precious grandchildren: Dylan and Sophie. Carol will be sorely missed by her much loved sister Isobel, and by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and colleagues. At the time of her original diagnosis, Carol was declared “palliative”; yet under the expert care of her medical team, and with the unwavering support of her family, Carol spent nine years engaged in watching her family grow and thrive. However arduous her path, she considered it more than worthwhile for that reward. Her family is forever grateful for the kindness, caring, and expertise of the staff of the London Regional Cancer Centre, South West CCAC, VON, and St. Joseph’s Hospice. A special thank you to Doctors Ian Chin-Yee, William Clark, and Gihan Abdel Malek who treated Carol throughout her long ordeal. Carol was a paediatric physiotherapist for 40 years: two at Thames Valley Children’s Centre in London and 38 at KidsAbility in Waterloo (formerly the KW Rotary Centre). Her competence and compassion contributed to the quality of life of countless youngsters over the decades of her practice. At Carol’s request, cremation has already taken place. There will be a memorial celebration of life for Carol at the RiverBend Golf Community Clubhouse, 1200 Sandy Somerville Drive, London, ON N6K 5R2 on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with remembrances at 3 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Carol are asked to consider St. Joseph’s Hospice or the London Regional Cancer Centre.

Thinking of you when words fail. May the happiness of memories ease the sadness of the moment.

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same. Carol was one of those people. She enriched my life in so many ways. I shall miss her but the good memories will sustain me and carry me on my journey. Sincere condolences to the family. May God bless you all at this difficult time.
We remember your kindness to us Carol back in the days of my early career. We had many laughs together and you, we remember, as always being positive and caring. It is a sad day when the battle is lost but if there is any one thing we can take from your ordeal is your capacity to fight. The news of your passing has saddened us but we know the many good times you have had will be remembered enthusiastically by Peter, your children and grandchildren. Rest in peace Carol.
