I worked with Captain Bateman as we were both ship pilots on the Great Lakes. He was a skilled captain, a generous mentor, and a true shipmate. I am indebted to him for sharing his professional knowledge and wonderful stories.
Bryan was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed by all that knew him. He had the laugh and smile that we will never forget, his influence will go on through all the lives that he has touched.
