Passed peacefully from this life, with family at his side, and entered Eternal Life in the early morning of Thursday, January 28, 2016. Dear husband of Lorna Phillips (Grosman) (née Howie). Cherished Dad of Claudia and Calvin Thar, of Strathroy, and Rob and Bev Phillips, of Oakville. Fondly remembered as “Gramps” to Andrew and Ashley Phillips, and Elizabeth and Jeff Kargus, and great-granddaughter Emma. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Audrey (2003), parents Nora and Walter Phillips, and sister Glenna Pattenden. Bruce was born in Temiskaming, Quebec, on October 22, 1927 and raised in Montreal. A graduate of Sir George Williams University (B. Comm. 1956), Bruce’s accounting career spanned over 42 years, having worked for the Toronto Dominion Bank, Sun Life Assurance Company and as the third of four generations to work for the Canadian International Paper Company, and various subsidiaries in Montreal, Burlington and London. Bruce married his first wife, Audrey (née Botham) in 1954 and together they raised and lovingly nurtured their family, making lasting friendships in all the communities where they made their home. Bruce’s final years were filled with love and contentment after marrying his second wife, Lorna, in 2005. Bruce was a faithful member of Metropolitan United Church, a proud member of the Middlesex Kiwanis Club, and a longtime volunteer with many organizations including the LHSC Critical Care Unit. Quiet faith, family and friendships were cornerstones in Bruce’s life. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, a trusted friend, and a gentleman of great character, integrity and generosity. Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at METROPOLITAN UNITED CHURCH, 468 Wellington Street, London, on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Herb Summers officiating. Reception to follow. Interment at Woodland Cemetery, with private family committal service at a later date. Memorial donations to the Kiwanis Club of Middlesex Bequest and Endowment Fund or Metropolitan United Church will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

We are saddened by the passing of Bruce not only because of how much his family will miss him, but because we will too. Bruce gratefully accepted telephone calls in October for our birthday wishes. He was a friend and a good listener. He laughed at our jokes but treated us with respect. Bruce, we miss you already! Helen and Rudy
