In his 73rd year, passed peacefully at Mount Hope Centre for Long-Term Care on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015, ending a 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s. Cherished husband of 47 years to Mary. Beloved Dad to Chris (Phillippa) and Kate (fiancé Mark). Dear brother to Brenda (Derry Varney). Predeceased by parents Ken and Verla Jordan. Fondly remembered by his Jordan and Colley cousins, as well as by in-laws, nieces and nephews in the Barr clan. Brian was a secondary school teacher in Ajax and Oshawa, and in London at Lucas and Banting. He loved teaching and coaching teenagers and was always steadfast and fair. Brian possessed a great sense of humour, a dry wit, integrity and the easy grace of an athlete. B.J. thoroughly enjoyed the banter and camaraderie of his buddies, whether it be canoeing, tennis, golf, OFC or pub nights, and he relished times in Bayfield with close friends Bill and Judith. A special thank you to John Murphy and other courageous souls who brightened B’s day with stories and laughter while he resided at Mount Hope. A heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the kind and caring staff on Mount Hope’s 4th floor, the recreation staff, for musical fun, as well as companions Nellie and Maeve. Cremation has taken place. Private interment at a later date. As per B.J.’s wishes, there will be no service nor visitation. A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, July 25th, 2015 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, (or via Beaverbrook to Horizon Drive), London. Please bring your happy thoughts and stories to share. Mr. Jordan (as we all addressed him) was a fairly large part of my early years, both as my teacher at Lucas, but also as the father to one of my closest friends, Chris. I was very lucky to learn from him as a teacher, but also outside of the classroom, where he was very witty and always gracious when I came around the house. The last time I spent time with Mr. Jordan was at Chris' wedding and reception in Washington, which was a fantastic event. We were very saddened to learn of his illness and tried to express our best wishes whenever Chris was willing to discuss his dad. Mr. Jordan was simply one of the good ones, from that generation where hard work was expected and respected. I cherish my memories of time spent with Mr. Jordan and extend my deepest sympathy to the rest of the family. May he finally rest in peace.

Hi Mary This is a voice from the past! We heard from a colleague of Brenda's ( fats) of BJ's demise and didn't realize he had been ill for so many years...he was a super guy and our university 'fun' times are memories I'll always relish...Linda and I send our most sincere condolences to you Mary and your family. Mike and I send you our love in this time of sadness. Brian was a lovely man who always put a smile on our faces and had a great sense of humour. It was a pleasure and a privilege to have known him and for that we are both grateful. There are no words to describe such loss but know that you are in our thoughts.
Dear Mary and family, Please accept my deep sympathy. A few years ago, my husband and I were at the Cherryhill mall when we had a chance to chat briefly. During that short conversation you told us that Brian had Alzheimer"s. Mary, the love, compassion, admiration and adoration you showed towards Brian ,deeply touched my heart and remains deeply etched in my memory. We are so very sorry to hear about Brian's passing. We have fond memories of him at all the Colley functions. We will always remember his many stories, sense of humour, and infectious laugh. Our hearts and thoughts are with you all.

Mary and family I was saddened to receive the news of Brian's passing. My sincere condolences on your loss of a cherished husband and loving father. As a member of the coaching ranks of the London Conference, I came to know Brian and I enjoyed his pleasant demeanor. He generously shared his vast knowledge of sports with the young athletes entrusted to him. He instilled in them a healthy spirit of competition: work hard, play hard, respect the opposition and respect the game. But what I will always remember about Brian is the manner he conducted himself; always with a sense of respect and always with integrity. May he rest in peace. Tony Furfaro
BJ was a great teacher, counsellor, coach and athlete. He exhibited skills with a tennis racquet that none of us could match, and was always quick to offer a word of praise for someone else’s good shot. He will be missed by all who knew him. I remember his many stories with great fondness, including his riding down the hill in Dundas in his sports car with the engine and lights off – hoping to coast into his driveway undetected in the wee hours of the morning!
