Bradley James Tanner

May 19, 2022

Unexpectedly, on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at his home in St. Thomas, Ontario, Bradley James Tanner passed away in his 57th year. Loving father to daughters Ariel (Nick) and Brett (Andrew). Dearly missed also by his father Leslie and sister Kim (Dave) Lockhart. Predeceased by his mother Dianne (1988).

Brad was a proud member of the London Fire Department for 29 years, spending his last few years as Captain of London’s heavy rescue, and enjoyed anything to do with vehicles (especially Jeeps).

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday, May 30, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Basilica, 196 Dufferin Avenue, London.

The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and for sharing their memories of Brad. Special thanks to Dave Smith, Corey Thompson, Kelly Kimura, Peter Swartman, and the London Professional Fire Fighters Association (LPFFA) for their support during this time.

Donations to #IveGotYourBack911 in Brad’s memory would be greatly appreciated.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Brad's death. I met Brad a few years ago and we developed a friendship. He was a kind and caring man with a great sense of humor. I will miss our chats, but hold all the ones we had close to my heart. I hope you are resting peacefully sweet man!

Though I am still shocked from the sudden passing of my childhood friend, Brad, I am humbled and touched by his time here with us. For those of you who don’t know me, I had been a friend of Brad’s since grade four. As I came in half way thru the school year back 1974, I’ll never forget how he sat only a few rows away, I was so worried I’d be sitting alone, but he was quick to welcome me into his small group of consorts...I believe that old cars became a standard topic. As we all know, Brad was fierce leader with 29yrs in the London Fire Department, but he was a a very kind and caring father, a good friend, and even a greater person that we can only strive to be like. I know he will be tremendously missed by those his lives have touched, the ones he saved and the ones who were fortunate to know him intimately…his family, children and especially his little sister Kim. Thank you for everything, Brad

I had the privilege of working with Brad many times and always found him to be professional, knowledgeable and a good man. His sense of humour was keen so you had to be alert around him or you would be a victim of it. Rest in peace Brother.

A professional, head down, hands into the worked - stayed in his lane... served with sincerity and integrity. Borrowing from a poet - 'oh the difference to me'... Family - My sincere condolence for your loss... Brad had so much more to offer - but the choosing of such is not our own. In God shall we trust.

Brad was one of the first firefighters who welcomed me when I joined the London Fire Department. Every time I encountered him he had a big, bright smile and kind words. He was thoughtful and considerate and extremely good at his job. It's heartbreaking to lose him at such a young age. Rest in Peace, my friend.

We are deeply saddened at the passing of Brad. Our condolences to Ariel and Brett and the entire Tanner family. Brad and I started together at the London Fire Department. We developed a strong friendship as we sat together in recruit training. Brad was a great fire fighter who cared for others and his family. On several occasions Brad worked for me so I could attend various functions for my kids when they were growing up. Rest In Peace. Phill and Issie King
