Surrounded by her family at Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Bev was predeceased by her husband Tom “Toby” Black (2016). Proud mother of Toby Whalen (Terry) of London and Scott Black (Sharon) of Kerwood. Cherished “Nan” to grandchildren Matthew Whalen (Sarah), Michael Whalen (Christine), Julie Whalen (Brendan), Erica Black (Grant), Thomas Black (Michael); and great granddaughter Sophie Whalen. Bev will be sadly missed by her sisters Sylvia Davis (late Bob Davis), Wendy Demo (Bob) and Brenda Reilly. Predeceased by siblings Peggy Ireland and parents Joan and Stan Tuckwood.
Bev was born and lived most of her life in London. Originally, she embarked on a career as a hairdresser and then a hairdressing instructor but she returned to school and was a proud graduate of Queens University. Bev loved her profession as a guidance counsellor at Thames Vocational Secondary and was passionate about teaching, guiding and mentoring the students under her care and in turn, was respected and beloved by her students. She proudly worked at the Rexall Post Office for 12 years, and worked with colleagues and customers who became friends. Bev enjoyed golf and she and Tom were long-time season ticket holders of the London Knights. She also was very fond of Sydney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins and supported the Toronto Blue Jays. Seldom was Bev without Tom at her side, and for 56 years they did everything together. She was a wonderful wife, mom and grandmother and adored Tom, her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Toby & Scott we are so sorry for your loss of your Mom Beverley. Bev & I were cousins. I have memories of Bev & I playing together when we were young. We have been away & just got back & found out. We would have been at funeral. You are in our thoughts & prayers at this difficult time.
Scott and family, very sorry to learn of your loss. I have many memories of your Mom cheering us on at our hockey games , glad to have her on our side. Please accept my sincere condolences and know you are in our thoughts at this time .
My memories of Auntie Bev are all positive. You could always tell when her and my mom were together by their great big laughs. I remember visiting and going to the park in London near their new condo at the time and taking a wrong turn. Well my Mom and Auntie Bev were sitting outside laughing so hard at each-other, I was able to find my way back just walking towards the sound of them. She always went out of her way to make everyone feel good and her bright personality is going to be missed. Sending all our love ❤️
My Condolences to you and your family Toby
My heartfelt condolences to Bev’s family and friends. Bev was a beautiful person with a wonderful sense of humour. I first met Bev about 15 years ago when I joined the Oxbow Belles’ league at Oxbow Glen. I was really nervous about golfing in the league. Bev was in one of the groups that I got to golf with. She was so kind, patient, and encouraging. It is something I will never forget and always treasure. Rest in peace Bev
My heart was very saddened to hear of Bev’s passing. She was a beautiful lady with a beautiful personality. I have known Bev for many years, as well as her husband Tom, who I worked with at Ford for over 30 years. They are now together again forever. My condolences to the family on your precious loss. My thoughts and prayers are with Toby and Scott.
