Betty-Ann Schulz (née McLaughlin)
December 22, 2022
Betty-Ann passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2022 in London, Ontario with her three daughters at her side. Betty-Ann was born February 20, 1937 to Alexis and Daniel McLaughlin in the small town of Kamsack, Saskatchewan.
Betty-Ann is predeceased by her husband William Douglas (2021). She will be sadly missed by her three daughters and their families. Susan and Ken Nugent of London, Ontario (Scott, Shaun and Graham), Sharon and Peter Allen of Allen, Texas (Michael, Thomas and Ben) and Sandi and David Haynes of Brampton, Ontario (Alex and Andrew), and two great-granddaughters Hali and Rory Nugent. She is survived by her brother Pat McLaughlin of Calgary (Mary).
Betty-Ann graduated from the nursing program at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg in 1958, where she met the love of her life, Doug. Betty-Ann served as a nurse for over 30 years and retired as the Assistant Director of Nursing at St. Joseph’s Hospital in North Bay. Married for 62 years, Doug and Betty-Ann lived in several air force towns including Winnipeg, Clinton, Kirkland Lake, Portage la Prairie and North Bay prior to retirement. In 2015, Doug and Betty-Ann settled in London, Ontario. She loved to play squash, was passionate about tennis and curled in the winter. She was also an avid bridge player in North Bay and in the Riverbend Golf Community in London. After raising three daughters, her life changed with the arrival of eight grandsons. She definitely found it to be much more rambunctious in the house when her grandsons came to visit. She loved to challenge them to a game of tennis, scrabble or cards and it was an expectation of the grandsons that Grandma’s home-made sticky buns would always be waiting for them upon their arrival.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Chartwell Riverside Retirement Home. Celebration of life has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay and would be greatly appreciated.

To Betty-Ann's Family. Your Mom and I were competitors for many years in Racket Ball, Tennis and Bridge. Unfortunately for me she always beat me. If I got a point I was ecstatic. Will remember her as being kind and gracious. Helen Sweig
