Barbara Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Lawson (née Kincaid)

On Friday, September 15, 2023, Elizabeth Lawson passed away, two weeks before her 96th birthday, and is now resting peacefully with her late husband, Jack. She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Todd) and son Peter (Patricia). She is also survived by her three grandchildren, James (Janell), Matthew (K) and Katie (Tom), and her first great-grandchild, Jack. Also survived by sister, Nina Wagner (Karl), brother-in-law, Harry Pinchen, as well as a whole host of nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Kincardine, Ontario, Liz spent a couple of years working at the local branch of the Bank of Montreal before embracing her vocation as a Registered Nurse. She subsequently worked in Toronto and then Chatham, where she met and married Jack. They had their first child, Barbara. From there it was on to Montreal, where she continued as a nurse, and their son Peter was born. Liz continued working in hospital until their eventual move back to Ontario, where both she and Jack finished their respective careers living in Burlington.

In retirement, they moved to London. Despite Jack’s untimely passing at age 70, Elizabeth continued to be very involved in the community (Thistle Lawn Bowling Club, the local library, Daughters of the Nile) and with her church, Siloam United, until well into her 90s. Liz entered into long-term care during the COVID pandemic and it was there, at Westmount Gardens, where she passed peacefully surrounded by loving family. The family would like to thank the staff for the wonderful care that she received there. Elizabeth was an amazing woman who brought love and joy to so many people, and loved to throw a party. She will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Memorial service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Private family interment will be held at a later date.
