Antonio ‘Tony’ Luigi Rizzo
November 19, 2019
Passed peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, just three days shy of his 76th birthday, surrounded by his adoring family. He will be forever in the heart of his beloved wife Silvana (née Fragassi), his cherished children Paolo (Krissy Lankin), and Giuliana (Cam Graham), and loving granddaughter who he called Ella Bella. He is survived by his brothers Mario, Leonardo, Luigi and Carlo, and many nieces and nephews, including Claudia, Daniele, Emmanuel, Leonardo, Sonya, Angelo, Daniele and many more throughout Italy and Canada. He will be reunited with his dear mother and father, sister Maria, brother Francesco and nephew Gabriel. Born in Alessano, Puglia Italy in 1943, Tony moved to Canada in 1969 at the age of 26, after having served in the Italian Army in Germany and Switzerland. He settled in Timmins, Ontario, where he built a successful career as a welder, which earned him the nickname ‘Sparky’ from his co-workers. Always a prankster with a quick sense of humour, Tony was well loved by family and friends alike. His passion for cooking ran deep and he was always happiest when preparing a meal for those he loved. Handsome until the very end, he charmed everyone he met and formed fast friendships. He was a kind and generous soul, who would do anything for his family and friends, and will be remembered for his loyalty and thoughtfulness forever. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and birthday celebration will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Tony are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex, Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario or a charity of your choice.
