Anthony John Sekli
November 25, 2024
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Anthony John Sekli, who passed away on Monday, November 25th, 2024, at the age of 58, surrounded by his family and loved ones in his home, as his last wish was not to die in hospital.
Anthony was predeceased by his father, Anton Sekli, and is the proud son of Mira Sekli. He is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Lillian and Lori (Brian); his sons, Evan (Cassidy) and Marko (Amanda); and his love, Helen. He is also remembered by his numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles back in Slovenia, which he frequently visited and considered his second home.
Anthony loved his sons dearly and spent many hours coaching their hockey teams. Anthony was president of Slovenian Triglav Cultural Club in London and an active member of Slovenski Park in Guelph. He participated in several Slovenian cultural events in both southern and southwestern Ontario. He was proud of his Slovenian heritage, hoping to achieve the goals of climbing Mount Triglav and learning to play the accordion. Anthony worked in manufacturing as an engineer. He took great pride in his work and even created a patent for the automotive industry. He was a gentleman whose kindness, laughter and selflessness touched all those who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.
Funeral arrangements will be made at a later date.
Those wishing to donate in memory of Anthony are asked to consider the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre at Victoria Hospital in London, ON.
Anthony počivaj v miru.

Please accept our deepest sympathy in this so premature loss of Anthony. You have lost a son, a brother and a father; we have lost a dear friend. Anthony’s dedication to his family and the Slovenian community will leave a huge void. Hope the support of family and friends helps you deal with the pain and sorrow during this most difficult time.
I only met Anthony briefly, but I could see what a fine person he was, a gentleman, kind, positive, and loved life and his family dearly. He packed a lot in, in the short time he was here. He inspired many people, in many different ways, and may his memory be blessing. My condolences to the whole family.
I just found out about Anthony. I am so sorry. You go through life and think of the special people you meet and get to know. Your dad, brother, son, husband was one of those people. You were very fortunate to have him in your lives. Big hugs!!!

I am so sorry to hear of Anthony’s passing. I met Anthony as a member at Slovenski Park. He always had time to stop and chat. Always a smile on his face. Always radiating positivity. I was amazed with his strength and courage after his first medical challenge and how he continued to live his life to the full. I will certainly miss seeing him as I wander around the park. May God bless your immortal soul Anthony. May He welcome you with open arms into Paradise. To his family, and to his partner, I extend my deepest sympathies.
Anthony was indeed proud of his Slovenian heritage. While serving with him on the executive board of 'Triglav' I know his passion and enthusiasm was an encouragement to all and contributed to many lasting memories by many people in the 'SLO' community in London and area. I'm so sorry to have lost a friend like Anthony and for his family's loss. While I did not know of his passion to climb Mt. Triglav in Slovenia, I would suggest that he would have accomplished that too - that certainly being much easier to do than to learn to play the accordion.... Na zdravje!
