Alexander “Sandy” David Wright

June 6, 2024

Alexander “Sandy” David Wright of London, Ontario passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, June 6, 2024 in his 82nd year, to the surprise of all who knew him.  It is difficult to describe the impact Sandy had on this world, he was so many things to so many people.  He was a loving husband and best friend to Carole Wright for 64 years.  He was a caring father to his two daughters, Debbie Wright and Lisa Maguire (Tim) and his cherished cat, Gibby.  He was beloved grandpa to his four grandchildren Coulton (Tasha), Tom (Kristen), Sydney (Scott) and Liam.  He was fortunate to have been able to meet his 4 great-grandchildren, Jamie, Nolan, Emelia and Indie Rose, who he loved dearly.  He was a dear friend to many and a kind and loving man to anyone who met him.

He served the City of London for 60 years, 34 with the London Police Service.  He was a man of purpose, dedication, integrity and love.  He cared deeply for those he was close to and would do anything in his power to help those who needed him.  He has selflessly donated his body to science, although he was always somewhat of a medical miracle during his life.  He fought on and hopefully his sacrifice can bring new insights and he can continue to add to his lasting impact on this world.  He meant the world to so many and the world was a better place with him in it.  He will be greatly missed.

There will be a memorial visitation for Sandy at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, Ontario on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.  The family of Sandy would love to meet anyone who was impacted by him during his life and celebrate the legacy of a great man.

Those wishing to make a donation in Sandy’s honour can donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada and/or The Maycourt Club of London.

Carole and Family, Thank you for sharing Sandy with us. He started his 2nd career at the City in 94 and we were happy to have him on the team. His expertise was often shadowed by being such a wonderful co-worker and friend to all. He played a special role for me and so many others -at a time when he could've been playing Sunningdale. His impact lives on. Deepest sympathy from Stephen and Janine

~ Stephen Giustizia

Our deepest condolences to Carole and family on the sudden loss of Sandy. We have so many fond memories of our get togethers, and Dad and Sandy's golfing days. I'm sure they are both having a beer together and reminiscing about the good old days. May his memories live on forever in your hearts. May he rest in peace.

~ Marcie Buchanan and Family

I was very sad to learn of Sandy’s sudden passing. I was privileged enough to know him for several decades because of my dad and his basketball friends. Always larger than life, he had a heart of gold and the warmest smile. Sandy always had time to catch up and share stories. He was and always will be one of my BBall dads, I will miss him dearly. My deepest condolences.

~ Tracy Fox

Heather and I shocked to hear of Sandy’s passing especially because he seemed so well when we were fortunate to spend some time with him so recently. Sandy was a giant amongst men. He was a police officer whose word was his bond. He served the community for his lifetime and exemplified “the good cop “. A man of integrity. Despite life challenges he remained optimistic for the future. He leaves a legion of friends who were fortunate to have known him. Rest in peace, Sandy. We extend our condolences to Carole and the family. May you be comforted by memories of happy times together.

My deepest condolences to the whole Wright family. Tom Wildgust was my husband (he passed in Aug 2023). I feel Tom & Sandy had a special “thing” they did but maybe Sandy did this with others. When they shook hands, they’d grip as tightly as they could, until someone cried “uncle“. Sandy was a great guy who had an infectious laugh and smile. He will be missed.
