Rick and family, so sorry to hear this. Thinking of all of you.
Rick, Cam and Alex, I am so shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Cathy. She will forever be remembered for her smile and laugh and amazing sense of humour. She had such a huge heart and an everlasting "love of life" attitude. She loved her family so much and was always so happy to share stories of "her boys" - she was so proud of you all. Rick, there are no words my friend - I know you will have so many wonderful memories to help you through this very difficult time - may you find some comfort in knowing that Cathy will be remembered always and by so many. Cathy - thank you for sharing so much of yourself with so many - you will be missed and remembered always. Rest easy and with love.
No one ever expects something like this to happen to their family. A lovely person taken from us before her time. My heart goes out to Rick and the rest of his family
I have many fond memories of working with Cathy at Western and on the committee for a provincial conference we planned. Her passing is a real loss and I wanted the family to know how much I valued her. You are all in my thoughts.
I had the privilege and pleasure of working with Cathy on many projects, committees and during times of crisis at LHSC. She was always the consummate professional and conducted herself with compassion, kindness, grace and assertiveness to ensure that we never lost focus on the people involved, be they patients, families, staff or providers. I will miss her infectious laugh and unwavering optimism. I am deeply saddened by her death and extend my most sincere condolences to all those who knew and loved her.
I had the pleasure of working with Cathy starting in her role as Director of Infection Control. I was new to this area and she kindly spent the time I needed to familiarize myself with this topic. Over the years we worked on many projects together and her grace and kindness always shined through even in those times of tough decisions. We initiated an after hours « whine and wine » which continued over the years where we could let our hair down. Cathy you have had an impact on so many people and projects over the years. You will not be forgotten. Rick and family my deepest sympathies for the loss of this beautiful woman. Michele Martin.
Rick, Cam and Alex our deepest condolences. From the volleyball court, the football field and the professional environment we shared, our relationship was always fun. I am saddened to hear of her sudden passing. Sending you all strength to navigate this difficult time. May all your memories keep Cathy close to your heart. Thinking of you.
Rick and family, we are so saddened to hear of Cathy’s passing . We were praying for her since we heard of her illness. Our sincere condolences to all of you at this difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Rick - sincere condolences to you and your family.
Coose and family, we are so very sorry to hear about Cathy. She was a fun lady and so easy to visit with! Our sincere condolences.
Rick & family: Shocked and saddened when we heard about Cathy. When we last saw you Rick, with Cathy, a few short months ago down in FW... Cathy had that smile that she always brought to every exchange we ever had. Clearly one of her happy places in life and it breaks our hearts that it was her last time. There are no words... but in time we hope that memories of your times with Cathy... including those in FW... bring a smile to your face as well. R&E
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Cathy and send my heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones. She was a truly special person—kind, compassionate, and always bringing her joy to those around her. Her amazing smile and caring nature made every day brighter for patients and colleagues alike. It was a privilege to work with her, especially during the pandemic. In the most challenging moments, she remained calm, steady, and full of grace, offering both leadership and comfort to those around her. Rest in peace, Cathy.
My condolences to Cathy’s entire family. My heart breaks for each of you. My thoughts & prayers are for you as you go through this difficult time. I have so many memories of Cathy growing up together through 12 years of school. The very first day of school Cathy was the one who put her arm around me as I stood there scared and crying in the hallway of the old school - crowded with so many kids and I was pushed against the wall. Cathy saw me and told me it would be ok! And she was right I was ok. She became my first best friend in school.
Rick and Family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I will always remember Cathy’s warm smile, joyful laugh, and the way she prioritized both patients and staff, no matter her role at LHSC. Her kindness and dedication will be truly missed.
So sorry to hear of Cathy’s passing! Sending sincere sympathy to you all. Keep all your wonderful memories close at this difficult time.
Coose and family, Thinking of you all at this most difficult time in your lives. Cherish the memories that you all have of this special lady. May God give you peace and comfort at this time

Dear Rick and family, I am so stunned and saddened to hear of Cathy’s passing. I had the good fortune to work with Cathy for many years, starting when she was the Manager of Occupational Therapy and I was the Manager of Clinical Nutrition. She was such a bright light! An amazing and visionary leader, she cared so deeply about LHSC’s patients, staff and the organization . Her brilliant mind and fabulous sense of humour made her an absolute delight as a colleague and friend. My deepest sympathies to her family, friends and colleagues.
I offer my sincere condolences to the Vandersluis family. May your fond memories of Cathy give you peace and comfort during this challenging time. Cathy leaves a legacy of passion, fortitude, and service. As a close colleague, I witnessed her daily efforts to improve the delivery of health care within our community. Her vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched.

Cathy was a truly remarkable woman. Her spirit was a shining beacon of compassion, and she had an extraordinary gift for seeing the good in everyone she met. No matter the circumstances, Cathy approached life with an infectious zest that inspired those around her to embrace each moment fully. Her beautiful smile could light up the room and remind us of the power of joy. Cathy had an incredible ability to make people laugh, effortlessly weaving humour into her interactions and creating an atmosphere of warmth and happiness. Full of joy, Cathy didn’t just live life; she celebrated it. She taught us the meaning of family and the importance of creating memories with the ones we love. Her compassionate nature and unwavering belief in the goodness of people remind us of the importance of kindness in our lives. When I remember Cathy, I will think of her love for family, for living life, her laughter, and her ability to uplift others. Her spirit will forever be a part of those she knew, helping them to see the world as she did, full of joy and compassion. I am a better person because I know her and am grateful for her mentorship.
Charismatic, joyful, kind, intelligent--these are only a few of the adjectives that describe the much loved Cathy. My sincere condolences to all of the family for this heartbreaking loss.
Dear Rick, Alex, Cam and all of your family, I felt gutted when I received the news from a fellow OT about Cathy's unexpected passing. It doesn't feel fair to me that she won't get to enjoy retirement with you Rick, and be the best grandmother ever for her grand daughter. However, she has left a legacy of excellence in everything she did at LHSC, as well as being a mamma bear for her sons. She gave it her all and was loved by those who worked with her. I will be forever grateful to Cathy for having my back when I became ill and couldn't return to work. Cathy, my trusted friend, you made a difference in the London Community. For that I/we all thank you.
Cathy was an authentic leader who led teams with kindness and respect. She had a remarkable quality of making people feel seen, heard, and valued. With heartfelt condolences,
I was Cathy’s professor and later colleague. Cathy was in the first OT class that I taught; it’s a class I will never forget. Her wit and intelligence stood out in this remarkable class. Her positive approach to life was infectious, shown to the world by her radiant smile. Cathy gave so much to the OT school at Western and to our profession. I will miss her. I hope that your many cherished memories will give you comfort at this sad time.
My deepest condolences to your entire family. I met Cathy many years ago when we were both OT students. Our paths crossed over the years as colleagues and fellow volunteers. No matter how much time passed, her welcome smile and infectious laugh made for a wonderful reunion. I have followed her amazing career and marvelled at her inspiring leadership. She will be missed. You must be so proud of her. I hope it will give you comfort.
Cathy, you leave me with a heavy heart, as I remember all the wonderful memories of our early years at UH and beyond. Your beautiful smile and genuine interest in people was your legacy. Rick, Alex and Cam, I recall that in our last conversation, she was so excited about the beautiful family that you were and celebrated your partners in life and being a grandmother. Love Margaret
Cathy was one of the finest people I had the pleasure of working with, a leader who always kept the best interests of patients and her staff as her first priority. She had a ready wit, a keen intelligence and a kind heart. There are very few people like her and she will be sorely missed.
Rick and family! So sorry to hear of Cathy’s passing! Sending hugs and prayers to all!
I recenty got to know Cathy a little through some work at LHSC. We shared a common bond with our respective OT training, and chuckled that we both had the "once an OT, always an OT" approach to looking at challenges. She was a dedicated leader, her positivity was refreshing and I am sure she will be missed. My very sincere condolences to her loved ones and to all her colleagues in London.
Our sincere condolences to you Rick and your family. So sorry for your loss. You will be in our prayers and many Hugs to you❤️❤️❤️

Dearest Rick and family, we are at a loss for words that would adequately describe the profound and sudden loss of Cathy. We will always remember our evening bonfires with your family at Erieau, gazing up at the stars. She was herself a shining star for those who were lucky enough to get to know her. Wishing you all our love and comfort during this especially difficult time. I am deeply sorry that we are out of the country and will not make it back in time for her celebration of life. We will most certainly be there in spirit.
Cathy was so kind and will be truly missed. My condolences to her family.
My sincere condolences to Cathy's family. Cathy always brought a smile to my face, her own smile was infectious and she often brought light heartedness and the ability to see the good things in any situation. She was a tremendous leader, and a mentor to so many, me included. Her unwavering dedication to quality care and innovative healthcare will be sadly missed.
Cam, Katie, Arden and Family We are so sorry to hear about your moms passing. I always appreciated how welcoming she was to me when we would spend evenings having camp coordinator fires, or getting ready to go out to Rock the Park. It's very clear what an incredible person Cathy was, because she raised a son like Cam. Cam, you exhibit all the amazing qualities that have been shared about your mom. What a tribute to her memory you are. Please know we are thinking of you all. Ryan and Deanna Babington
It was a shock to hear of Cathy’s passing. When I think of LHSC I think of her good humour, commitment , love of job and her leadership to get the job done right. She will be missed by many at the hospital. My condolence to her family. Jim Calvin
My memories of Cathy are related to her teaching in the School of Occupational Therapy at The University of Western Ontario. Cathy was an educator and colleague who shared her passion for occupational therapy and the possibilities for those recovering from traumatic injury or living with disability. Her teaching awards were numerous and many students went on to follow her example. Beyond her work, Cathy proudly shared experiences of family moments as many of her colleagues with young children could relate. Cathy’s presence at the University in teaching and mentoring will be remembered through those many students and colleagues who were inspired by her example. My heartfelt condolences to the family as you hold your memories close.
Condolences to the Vandersluis family. Cathy always brought sunshine into any conversation. What I so appreciated and valued was her passion and commitment to patient safety and experience for all patients/families at LHSC. Knowing your legacy will make a difference to London's community.
When I would see Cathy at the cottage or tagging along to a Sunday Funday, she was always the first to come over to me to see how my life was going. She was someone that you wanted to talk to for hours. She was an incredible cheer leader and role model. I will truly miss her smile and warmth.
Cathy was Director of Clinical Neurosciences when I started there as a new Clinical Educator. She was always so encouraging. We both moved on to other departments and roles, but she still greeted me by name. Even as President of UH she would stop in the hall to chat with me. It was a privilege to know her. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
Dear Rick and Family. My deepest condolences on your loss. I worked with Cathy for years at LHSC and feel grateful that we stayed in touch as friends after I retired. I will hold close sweet memories of her - that distinctive laugh, her passion for patients, her genuine caring for staff, her seasonal office decorations, and if you ever had a hankering for something sweet, Cathy always had candy on her desk! Our recent conversations were all about the joys of being a grandparent! I hope you all find comfort in knowing Cathy's story will be told in the many lives she touched, influenced and changed! Cathy, love and light my friend!
Oh my Sunshine, I'm sure you gave it your all... that's what you do and who you are. Going to miss you terribly. Love you.
In a world filled with those who said things could not be done, Cathy was the one who said it could, and always with a smile. It was our great pleasure to work with her in the transplant program, a program she was devoted to. It was a shock to hear of her passing to all of us. She will be missed for her commitment to excellence in patient care, her support of the transplant program, and of course her radiant smile and her hearty laugh.
I was saddened and shocked to hear of Cathy’s sudden passing. I had the privilege of working with her at LHSC. She always had a ready smile, a positive attitude and a willingness to listen to all. To her family, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope the memories of the love and laughter you shared sustain you throughout this time.
Cathy was a bright light. I always appreciated how she led with integrity and transparency. She had an incredible sense of humor. She will be missed by many. My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.
I am deeply saddened to hear of Cathy’s passing. She was a remarkable individual whose ability to make others feel valued was truly special, regardless of their role or connection to her. Her infectious smile radiated warmth and positivity, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. A true role model, she inspired many through her kindness, leadership, and unwavering support. Even those outside her immediate circle felt her genuine care and generosity of spirit. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I hope the love, memories, and legacy she leaves behind bring you comfort during this difficult time. With deepest sympathy,

Cathy, we ( George) and I will always remember your beautiful smile and warmth. You’ll be joining him for martinis and a beer! Lv you and God be with you. You will be missed here in Naples. Condolences to Rick and family.
Deepest condolences to the family. Always kind and humble and never walked by and didn’t stop to chat . You will be so missed Cathy .
Rest easy Cathy! A person who carried a prestigious title while at LHSC but was always so humble and sincere. She never made her status think she was the best and too important for others. She would walk around stop just to chat with you and get to know you. She had respect for the front line worker. Cathy earned her title at LHSC not just for her hard work but the compassion and respect she shows. Rest easy Cathy.
