Tony Romeo

May 21, 1949 - March 26, 2025

With heavy hearts but immense gratitude for the time we were blessed to have with him, we share the passing of Tony Romeo, a man of quiet strength and unwavering devotion to his family, who passed peacefully on March 26, 2025. Tony left this world as he lived it: gently, humbly, and surrounded by those who loved him most.

Tony’s greatest joy was his family, and that love was evident in the roles he cherished most: a devoted husband of 50 years and best friend to Lena Romeo, a proud father to Vince (Erin) and Michael (Monica), and an adoring Nonno to Apollo, Adriano, Andreas, and Rachel Romeo. A man of few words, Tony’s love and actions spoke volumes, leaving an unforgettable mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Tony’s journey through life was supported by the love of his late parents, Vincenzo and Girolama Romeo, his in-laws, the late Michele and Donata Iacobelli, and his siblings: the late Giuseppe Romeo (Enza), the late Giovanni Romeo (Caterina), Teresa Reale (the late Sal), Angela Condacuri (Michele), Pinuccia Sartoretto (Tranquillo), and Ida Sanci (the late Mimmo), brother in-law, Sil Iacobelli (Sue). He will also be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews.

Tony lived a life of humility, never seeking recognition, but always giving freely of his time and his heart. Though he never asked for much, he gave everything to his family: his love, his care, and his quiet companionship. After immigrating from Italy in 1973, his hard work and dedication laid a solid foundation for his family. He built a home filled with love and enriched by the values of his Italian heritage. Tony’s sacrifices paved the way for his children’s success; nothing brought him more joy than seeing them embrace the opportunities he quietly provided.

In his final stages of life Tony faced his battle with Alzheimer’s, and even as words and memories faded, the kindness, humility, and gentleness that defined him always remained. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in knowing that Tony is finally at peace and the memories and joy of the beautiful life he lived are restored.

His spirit was gentle, his love was unconditional, and his presence was peaceful. Our memories of Tony will live on into eternity.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the team at LHSC, including Dr. Barry Jordan for their compassionate care. In Tony’s memory, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Visitation will take place at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica, 196 Dufferin Avenue, London.  Entombment to follow at Holy Family Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery.
