Gerald “Gerry” Lawrence Brock, B.Th., M.A.Ed.
May 1, 1938 - February 3, 2025
It is with sadness and the peace from Jesus that I share the news that my dear husband of 62 years, Gerry Brock, passed away on February 3, 2025. He was Promoted to Glory while hearing his favourite hymns and scriptures. First and foremost, he was a follower of Jesus Christ. His first priority was to live according to God’s will. He was a man of fine character and loved by many.
Gerry will be missed by his wife, Carol (née Carey), daughter Brenda Strople (Scott) and son Brian (Linde); sister Nancy Brock, grandchildren Christy (David) and Michael (Ashley), great-grandchildren Lillian and Jack; brother Bill Carey and his dear family.
Half of his career he taught for the London Public School Board. From 1972 – 1981 he was a teacher and principal at Faith Academy in the Philippines. Along with his teaching staff, he created and developed a unique adventure program – an annual week of Outdoor Education that continues to this day. He also taught at the London Christian Academy, was principal of Heritage Christian school in Lindsay and completed his career as special Education teacher back in London. During retirement we team taught Bible studies for a few decades.
Our special thanks to Dr. Ziada and nurses Bridget, Jennie, Jennie P., Evilena, Reynan, Jocelyn, Juni, Brodie and others for their excellent care.
As per the family’s wishes, all visitation and services are private except for the Celebration of Life, which will be held at the Salvation Army London Citadel, 555 Springbank Drive, London, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

Dear Carol, children and grandchildren , please accept our sincerest condolences. He was a wonderful man and touched many lives. Philippines was lucky to have him as a teacher. We were also lucky to have met one of the kindest man in the world. Hugs! Love , Gigi, Zuber and children.
Having served with Gerry as principal at Heritage Christian School Lindsay, for many years as the Chairman of the Education Committee and other Board work etc., (Sue) I know from experience what a wonderful, Godly, funny and caring man he was. In that role as Chair I often got to deal with hiring, do interviews of varying kinds and parental concerns among others with him. During of all of that, the good and challenging he could be counted on to be a man of thoughtfulness and with a great desire to make the school all it could be. Gordon who served with him at the Board level also enjoyed him, his input and great experience. Our deepest condolences Carole, and family, I know he will be dearly missed.
Carol and family, I’m so sorry for your loss. As a first cousin to Gerry, I knew him growing up as our families shared many holiday meals together. We lost touch over the years, but reconnected a year ago at a Celebration of Life for my sister. My family visited with Gerry and Carol several times over the last year. I so wish that I had reached out much sooner. I was in awe of Gerry telling me the story of starting the Outdoor Adventure program in the school in the Philippines. He was about to have a zoom meeting with the school as part of the 50th anniversary of the program! I also have some sense of what it takes to be a great Special Education teacher. I so admire him!
Sorry for your guys loss he will be deeply missed by all he was a great person to have around ❤️
I am so sorry to read of Gerry’s passing. He ran the Behaviour Program at Jury when I was there. Gerry was kind, compassionate and highly successful with kids whose lives were filled with challenges. He cared deeply for his students and spoke to them with respect and encouragement. Gerry also had a fine sense of humour. To Carol and family - my condolences.
Carol and family, My sincere condolences to you. Losing a loved one is never easy, especially one whose life was so well-lived like Gerry's was. I will remember his welcoming smile and kind heart, and the example of faith throughout life's joys and challenges. May God's peace and comfort be yours in the coming days.
Dear Carol and family Our family is so grateful for your warm welcome when we were new to London and Westview Baptist Church. Sending you our sincere sympathies, may God bless you with comfort and peace knowing that he is with the Lord that He served and loved so faithfully. With our prayers. Erland and Rhodora Laylo
Dear Carol and family We were so saddened to learn of Gerry’s passing. We always looked forward to our visits whenever you both came to the office. We know your faith and family will help you through this difficult time. We are sorry that we will not be home to extend our condolences to you during the celebration of life but please know we are thinking of you during this difficult time.
Gerry and I attended London Teachers’ College (after leaving South Collegiate) and were student teachers together at an elementary school in Komoka in December of 1962. Gerry was simply a wonderful person and there was no doubt that he would have great success in the classroom. Gerry and I shared a strong Christian faith which has never wavered through the years. I am at once sorry to learn of the passing of Gerry but realize that he received the ultimate promotion—that of being with his Lord. Gerry and I have not crossed paths in many, many years but I shall carry warm thoughts of a fine man until we meet again. To Gerry’s wife, Carol all who knew and loved Gerry, please accept my sincere condolences on his passing. Ross Spettigue, Windsor, ON
Mr. Brock taught me at Wilton Grove public School in the mid 60's. The best teacher you could wish for growing up. Certainly a life well lived. God bless him. Sincere condolences to the family.
