Leonne Ward
January 29, 2025
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Leonne Ward of Arva, Ontario, in her 87th year. Peacefully with family by her side, at Chateau Gardens AgeCare Parkhill, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Leonne ended her 6-year struggle with Dementia. Her memory was taken, but she is forever remembered as a self-sacrificing mother and mother-in-law by sons Darrell (Rosalind), Gerald (Theresa), Tim (Shelly), and daughter Pam (Joe), and step-son John Pierson (Brenda). She is remembered as a loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Leonne is survived by her sister, Joanne Lawton. She was predeceased by her parents, Colin and Madeline Cameron of Arva, and her brothers, Bruce, Bob, Glen, and sister, Mary Margarette, loving partner Jack Pierson and step-daughter Linda Evans.
Leonne was a dedicated employee of 35 years, starting with Woolworths, Woolco, and then Walmart. She enjoyed horse races, baking, canning, and gardening. She was an avid knitter and donated hats and mittens to the Boy’s and Girl’s Club for many years.
Cremation has taken place. A private Celebration of Life will be held at the Fireside Restaurant, 1166 Commissioners Road East, London, February 23, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank the impeccably caring staff at Chateau Gardens AgeCare Parkhill and the Oaks Retirement Village in Wallaceburg for their special care of Leonne. Those wishing to donate in memory of Leonne are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Leonne was also loving partner to Jack Pierson for many years. They had many friends that they enjoyed card games and many laughs with. Leonne was a fabulous cook and there was always a place at their table for you ! Leonne always greeted everyone with a hug and a smile, didn’t matter if you were blood relatives or extended family. We will always remember Leonne as such a caring lady.
Our condolences on the loss of your Mother. Sending hugs and love to Pam,Darrell,Tim, Jerry and families . You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
We wrote this poem for you Grandma, Our Grandma was a shining star, whose light never faded, even from afar. We will not cry, nor will we weep. For in our hearts your memories we keep. With all... from laughs, joys, and sorrows. A piece of you will be carried into our tomorrow's, through each of us, with love so dear. In the sights and sounds, we will think of you, both far and near. Of all the special gifts in life however great or small, to have you as our Grandmother was the greatest gift of all. Wear a smile, whatever your adventure brings. For a new angel has earned her wings. We will see you again Grandma. Love always ~ Terri, Stephanie, and Christopher Ward
