Linda Macdonald
January 21, 2025
Linda Macdonald, born with a heart full of love and a laugh that could light up a room, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of Joan (Delaney) and Ken Mathers and the cherished wife of her late husband, Al. Linda leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an abundance of beautiful memories with her daughters Nicole Gundry (Rob) and Cherie Beaumier (Scott), as well as her wonderful bonus kids Andrew McKie (Shelby) and Heather McKie (Shawn), Beth Lochhead (Ted) and April Ritter (Rick).
Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren: Jaxon, Ella, Camryn, Danica, Brooke, Brennan, Callen, Brookie, Grayson, Jaydon, and Colm who were lucky enough to be spoiled by her boundless love and care. Linda also shared a special bond with her siblings, Tom Mathers (Rose) and Dawn Meikle (Todd), whose support and love made her life richer. She was a joyful aunt to nieces and nephews Kyle, Joel, Cooper, Sydney, and Keira, who kept her young at heart even as the years passed.
Linda was a true example of strength, determination, and grace. After many years as a stay-at-home mom, she showed her daughters that it was never too late to pursue a career, returning to her job in insurance with the same passion and dedication that she poured into everything. She loved her work and all the friends she made through it.
Linda’s love for family extended far beyond her immediate circle. She spent her final years in Bayfield, the spot where she and her family created cherished memories at Wildwood. It was there that Linda built a supportive community, where she was surrounded by friends who shared in her laughter, her campfires, and her countless “buck nights.”
In the end, Linda fought her final battle with the same wit, humour, and unwavering politeness she’d shown throughout her life. Her courage, strength, and kindness toward the doctors and nurses who cared for her were a testament to her character. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the team at (University Hospital Palliative Care and Parkwood Palliative Care unit, whose grace and compassion allowed Linda to leave this world with dignity and peace.
