Marjorie ‘Marge’ Siriani (née Montgomery)

September 12, 2024

Peacefully with her husband, Ivan, and daughters, Terry and Lana Rae, at her side, on Thursday, September 12, 2024 in her 94th year.  Marjorie was the beloved wife of Ivan for over 70 years.  She was the devoted mother to Terry (Paul Wrigley) and Lana Rae (Greg Rossi); grandmother to Jillian, Jenna (Scott Kearsley), Troy, Avery (Dustin Oostendarp) and Carson; and great-grandmother to Nolan and Riley.  Loving daughter of the late Thomas John & Annie Montgomery, and sister/sister-in-law to the late Louise & Jack, the late Helen & Ray, Bernice & Clem, Eileen & late Norm, late Arthur, and much loved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Marge was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in 1930.  She loved telling stories of growing up on the farm in Weirdale, to the delight of her grandchildren.  In 1948, her parents moved the family to Nanaimo, BC.  There, she finished her schooling and became a bookkeeper.  When she was transferred to Vancouver, she was in her glory with city life, and it was there that she met the love of her life, Ivan, at a dance.  They wed on May 22, 1954 and recently celebrated their 70th anniversary.

In 1972, Marge & Ivan and the girls moved to Mississauga; this was followed by another transfer to Calgary in 1986, and once Ivan retired, there was a final move to London in 1994 to be close to their girls and their families. Marge was very active in the Newcomers’ Club, and was always organizing or attending a bridge game, supper club, golf or a theatre event.  She made many friends wherever she lived, and her kindness, love of a good joke and story brightened any event.

Mom is famous for her love of horses, the colour pink, her bridge groups, but most of all her beads and earrings.  Each morning they were the first thing she put on, along with an impeccable outfit and her high heels.  She also drummed into Terry & Lana the need for a “Good White Blouse” – forever known to us as a “GWB”!!

Meals at Mom’s house were affairs – china, silverware, crystal and always a pink tablecloth – even for hamburgers!  She loved the finer things after her sparse life on the farm.

Grandma loved spending time with her five grandchildren and they have many loving memories of times spent with her.  Games of Farkle and Yahtzee, trips to the Royal Winter Fair (where fudge was a MUST); she sewed Halloween costumes for them, let them play with her bead collection and in general just loved them greatly.

She treasured her family and loved family get-togethers.  We will miss her tremendously until we meet her again.

A funeral service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, September 21st, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., with visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  A private family interment will take place immediately after the service.  Guests are invited to a reception from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. – details will be provided at Westview Funeral Chapel.

I will miss Marj so much! Thank you for the honor and privilege of knowing and caring for Marj. "May flights of Angels Sing Thee to thy rest"

Aunty Marge was loved in our family. She & Ivan were very good friends of my parents for 50+ years, so my sister & I were raised hearing all of the funny & memorable stories that our parents had of Marge - she was quite the practical joker!! I know how much she meant to Mom & Dad & how upset they were when I told them the news of her passing. I remember Aunty Marge's laugh more than anything else, it was boisterous & joyous & you couldn't help but join in with her. She was a funny & loving lady & it was always a pleasure to be around her. We send our prayers & love to Ivan, Terry & Lana & the rest of Marge's family, all of whom will miss her greatly. May she rest in peace.
