Martha J. Walker
July 26, 2024
Martha J. Walker, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at University Hospital on Friday, July 26, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born to Francis and Catherine Walker (née Goudie) and was the sister of Michael Walker. Martha was predeceased by her parents but leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Martha is survived by her devoted daughter, Brianna Walker, and son-in-law, Jason, who were blessed to have her as a guiding light in their lives, and her special friend John, who carried her heart with him for the last 32 years. Her three grandchildren, Ciara, Hunter and Hope, who brought her immense joy and pride, will deeply miss their “Nanny” and the warmth she brought to every moment shared.
Martha’s circle extended beyond her immediate family. Her friends, fellow lions and her three special “Adopted Daughters”, Kylie, Kaye and Melissa, who cherished her for her kindness and unwavering spirit, will forever hold her memory close. She also leaves behind her “dialysis family” at the University and Victoria Hospitals, where she formed bonds of camaraderie and mutual support with patients and staff alike.
Martha’s journey was marked by resilience and a profound ability to touch lives with her genuine care, compassion and endless humor and sass. She will be remembered for her strength, her love, and the indelible impact she made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family would like to thank their end of life Doula, Emily, who has made this process much easier and brought peace to them all during this time.
Friends and loved ones are invited to join in celebrating Martha’s life and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. A memorial service will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 5:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. For those unable to attend the service a livestream has been made available. To register for the livestream click on the words Remembering Martha below.

I first met MJ when my grandma moved into Amica a year ago. They were neighbours, and I can never have thanked her enough for how wonderful she treated my grandmother and for being her first friend there. She and I had some great conversations that I truly cherish. Her vibrant personality and kind heart will be missed. I’m so grateful I got to know such a beautiful person. To her family, please know that she made a difference in many people’s lives that will never be forgotten. She will always be in my prayers.
My condolences to the Walker family. M.J. was a bright light in this world. I very much treasure the many good times shared with friends at the Walker home. M.J. and her family made so many good times and fond memories possible.
Our deepest thoughts are with the Walker family now Many years of fond memories and good times Jamie Willoughby
I wrote this laying next to you in the hospital room. I never had the strength to read it to you but I hope from somewhere you know how much I love you. In the twilight of your days, my heart feels so heavy, Your breath, a whisper, delicate and steady. Memories flood, of days long past, Moments with you, forever to last. Your hands, once strong, now gentle and frail, Held me close through storm and gale. You kissed my tears, soothed my fears, Your love, a beacon, through the years. In your eyes, the wisdom of time, A lifetime of stories, in prose and rhyme. Though shadows gather, and time draws near, In my heart, you will always be here. Oh, sweet mother, my guiding light, Through darkest days, and longest night. Your love, a river, ever flowing, In my veins, forever glowing. I wish for you peace, in these final hours, To drift on dreams, through fields of flowers. Know that your love, your life’s embrace, Will forever linger, a tender trace. As you journey beyond, to paradise, the great unknown, You’ll never be lost, never alone. For within me, and those you adore, Your spirit lives on, forevermore. Rest now, dear mother, your battles are done, Your journey complete, a new one begun. With all my love, your daughter true, Forever and always, your little boo boo.
I'm so sorry for your loss of MJ. Many nice memories from growing up visiting Mike's house and always being warmly welcomed by all of the Walkers. It was nice to reconnect with MJ in the past year at Amica, where she and my parents lived.
