Dorothy Eileen Hamilton
June 14, 2024
Peacefully at University Hospital, London, in her 101st year. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband William Everett Hamilton. Loving mother of Gale (Michael), Janet (Steve), Doug (Linda). Grandmother of Stuart, Greg (Michelle), Ryan, Richard (Justine). Great-grandmother of Connor, Rory, Tyson, Chelsea, Ryleigh, Emmy, Attila, and Owen.
Predeceased by her granddaughter Tara and her siblings Irene, Lloyd, Russell, Harry, Clarence, Ralph.
Dorothy worked many years for Eatons London where she made several lifelong friends. She was always very involved in her community. She received official recognition for the many years that she did a daily check on other seniors in her Cherryhill apartment building and she supported many charities with her time, including the Salvation Army Christmas kettle.
Dorothy had a real zest for life, which continued right up to and beyond her 100th year. She never forgot a birthday or an anniversary. She loved seeing and babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was an avid gardener and maintained an allotment garden at Cherryhill. She was a devoted Toronto Blue Jays fan, golfed into her 60s and bowled until she was almost 90. Dorothy was well-loved and an inspiration for others at her retirement home where she was known to sing, dance and compete at Bridge, Euchre and Bingo until her last days.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the residents and staff at Amica London who have supported and welcomed Dorothy throughout her residency there. We greatly appreciate the care and support of Dr. Omar and all of the other staff at University Hospital, including the Palliative Care Team. A special thank you to Dr. Dina Al Khatib, who gave Dorothy the most wonderful and personal care throughout her years at Amica.
Private family service at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. A Celebration of Life will be held at Amica London, 517 Fanshawe Park Road West on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., with words of remembrance at 2:00 p.m.
