Dr. Ann Goziotis

June 26, 1961 - May 22, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Goziotis, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the age of 62. Ann passed peacefully surrounded by her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Craig and their cherished children: Natalie (Aaron), Steph (Daniel), and David.

Ann was the beloved daughter of the late Stefanos and Avgi Goziotis. She was a cherished sister to Louie Goziotis (Carmie), and the late Helen Goziotis, and a dear sister-in-law to Rob Dunbar (Christine). Ann will be greatly missed by her niece Emilie and nephews Alasdair, Lachlan-Alexander, Michael, and Stephen.

Ann was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and lived briefly in Greece before immigrating to Toronto with her family in 1966. She was a proud graduate of the University of Toronto where she obtained a Bachelors (1984) and Masters degree (1986) in pharmacology. She then attended the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry and obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1990. After a year in Rochester, NY, where she completed an advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) program, she returned to the University of Toronto where she trained in the specialty field of periodontics.

Ann married Craig Dunbar on June 13th, 1987. In 1993, they moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where their daughters Natalie and Stephanie were born. They returned home to Canada in 1997, having their son David shortly thereafter. Ann joined a periodontics practice with Dr. Ken Wright and Dr. Doug Awde in 1998. She so appreciated working with Dr. Awde, and her lovely assistants Lesley and Mary-Jane, for these past 25 years. She was grateful to her colleagues for their friendship and support, and her patients for their kindness and trusting her with their care.

Ann enjoyed the outdoors where she loved to bike, ski and explore new paths. In recent years she loved walks and hikes with her beloved dog Bailey. Ann was a devoted wife and mother, and proud pet-grandmother to Reese, Bagel, and Joule. Her family was the center of her world. She will be deeply missed.

Visitations will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 1 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Sunningdale Golf and Country Club, 465 Sunningdale Road West, London on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Drinks and light appetizers will be served, and family remarks will take place around 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to either the Glioblastoma Research Organization (gbmresearch.org), or to the London Abused Women’s Centre (lawc.on.ca), or any similar organization, in honour of Ann’s sister Helen.

We are heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dr. Goziotis. As one of her patients, she was more than a dentist to us; she was a real friend. We would always look forward to our appointments with her. Beyond her professional attentiveness and excellence as a dentist, she was an enthusiastic and caring person who curated a welcoming environment for us to share our concerns and also have lighthearted conversations. Her laughter and overall energy were contagious and would instantly light up the room, and something we’ll fondly remember her by. I was a patient of Dr. Goziotis for 20 years. During our lives we are sometimes fortunate to meet special people. She was one of those special people. Genuine, kind, caring. She shared her life so easily. I looked forward to hearing about her family, listening to Mary Jane and her banter about daily news and events happening in our world. I would use the few opportune moments during treatment to join in with my thoughts and opinions. I always felt valued and appreciated by her. She was truly loved. My deepest heartfelt sympathy to her family.
