With profound sorrow her surviving family announce the passing of Doreen Lillian Burr in her ninety-fourth year on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Oakcrossing Long Term Care Home in London, Ontario.
Doreen was predeceased by her parents George Burr and Ethel May Burr (née Marjoram) and her siblings Betty May Scott, Eileen Grant, Mary Calvert, George Burr and June Burr. She is survived by her sisters Jean M. Cowan and Kathaleen Gelech together with a number of nieces and nephews.
Doreen was a long time employee of the University of Western Ontario now Western University. She retired as Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs. Both she and her sister June were long time and highly regarded staff members at Western. Doreen was pleased to be the recipient of Western’s Award of Merit recognizing her service.
The family wish to express their gratitude to the staff at both Richmond Woods and Oakcrossing for the excellent care and assistance provided to Doreen during her residence at those institutions.
In pursuance of Doreen’s wishes, the family have dispensed with a visitation and funeral service. Interment will take place in the family plot at Woodland Cemetery.
