My Aunt Doreen at 102, was the matriarch of the Mansfield family descendants here in Canada. Like her sister, Priscilla, she was a tremendous support to those of us Mansfield descendants who were newer to Canada. As my sister wrote, we spent many happy weekends with Doreen in her wonderful apartment overlooking the Thames. She was the Mansfield sister most like my mother and that really helped me when I was homesick. She was a strong woman and she passed on many of those personality traits to our family. She will be missed.

My sister (Sally) and I spent many happy hours visiting our Aunt Doreen, our mother's sister. She had a great sense of humour and was very energetic. I believe she went to an exercise class 3 times a week at one time and this probably contributed to her long life. I remember her positive, matter of fact attitude to life. She will be missed.

Your mother Doreen was one of the grand women of her time. She has left you all with wonderful memories and a legacy to carry on. She was always in your photos, attending events and family gatherings of your growing clan. Many stories for you all to share in the coming years.

Hicks family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Granny is woven into the fabric of your lives and has always been such a constant joy in your lives. Her memory will shine on forever in all of you, and everyone else who had the privilege to know her.

Our heartfelt condolences to you Brenda on the loss of your dear Mum 🙏. Of course we are thinking of your entire family who all had a special relationship with Granny. She was the most active and engaging Grandmother ever and all her grandchildren are better human beings for having her love them. Her humour, kindness and laughter made the world a better place and she will be forever missed but never forgotten 💕 Brenda, I hope this image makes you smile and always remember your Mum’s fun loving spirit
