Cathy, we will remember Jim on the golf course smiling & giving a friendly wave. Always so pleasant to talk & laugh with. It is a privilege to have known him and he will be missed.

Worked with Jim for many years. There was no finer man to work with and he was the ultimate gentleman. RIP Jim.

I have many, many fond memories of my cousin Jim. The first when I was 5 and Aunt Virginia invited me to the farm to stay for a few days. I waited at the end of the driveway for Jim to come home on the bus from school and then 'followed' him for the remainder of the day/s. He drew the line when it came to me watching and listening to him practice his saxophone! During Christmas gatherings I eagerly waited for any tidbit of information related to his work and living experiences in Halifax, Nova Scotia, St John's, Newfoundland and then Toronto. Ripley Fairs, Ripley Reunions and family gatherings offered opportunities to appreciate his kind, gentle nature. I will certainly miss his yearly Christmas phone call and family updates. My deepest sympathy to Cathy and Carol.

Sorry to hear of Jim's passing. My condolences to Cathy. Met Jim during a 3 year stint at CFSEU where Jim was the RCMP S/Sgt of the unit. He was truly an ultimate gentleman who through his mannerisms garnished the respect and support of all. RIP my friend.

We will dearly miss a great friend. Jim was always a pleasure to be around and such a kind, humble ,positive person. A quiet unassuming gentleman! A man who never saw anyone in a bad light! I can understand his popularity in all aspects of his life because he never sought to be recognized, never wanted to be noticed, but always supported everyone! A kind gentle soul! Rest in peace! May God Bless all because that is what Jim wanted!

Our sympathies to Cathy and Carol. I was fortunate to work for Jim 50 years ago. We would cross paths every once in a while and I always found him a true gentleman. Always a kind word for everyone. A few years ago my wife attended a funeral at which Jim was present. Rosina spoke to Jim and said she remembered him from Toronto RCMP in mid 70's! He had that type of affect on people. His comment was 'Imagine that, someone remembering me!'. May you take comfort in the fond memories.

Cathy and Carol, we cant begin to express the sadness we are feeling at the loss of a great man, and friend to us. I know Jim will be missed by so many. Jim was a big part of my life and that of my family growing up and I will never forget his kindness, friendly demeanour, jovial laugh and constant encouragement. I had the privilege of meeting Jim over 20 years ago when he and Cathy joined Hickory Ridge Golf & CC. As with how Jim lived his life, he was an avid supporter of me and the club on many different levels. Jim was a very humble man and always downplayed all the wonderful things he did throughout his life. In golf, he was a very quiet and unassuming player, but I always knew just how solid a competitor he was! Jim would always say to me “I had a lucky day Dave”….. as he would continue to go on and win many events over the years. Jim was always more interested in contributing to the wellbeing and interests of others ahead of his own. You would spend a lifetime walking to find someone who could fill the shoes of Jim Hackett. He was a good friend and will be missed. My heartfelt sympathy to Cathy and family.

Saddened to hear of the death of a true gentleman. Memories return. Visits to the farm as a child, rides up from Toronto, Ripley Fair days at Aunt Florence's and family gatherings. His kindness to mom and dad has never been forgotten. Thinking of you at this sad time. A life well lived

When I connected with Jim, 8 beautiful years ago, I said that there was no 'lost' time in our relationship, but simply 'found' time. A wonderful, kind, funny, thoughtful and generous man that gave me the genes to be great. I love Jim and to Cathy, you are in my life forever. Andrea and I are fortunate to have been part of Jim's story.....I will continue to show his traits through my actions. Love to all!
