Elaine Marie Fata

June 14, 1953 - February 25, 2024

Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Elaine Marie Fata (née Derrah), on Sunday, February 25th, 2024, in her 71st year. Predeceased by her parents Frances and Edith Derrah, son Randy (2013), her brothers Garth and Michael, and her sisters Wendy and Pamela. Loving spouse of Paul Dixon (Ryan and Rhiannon). Loving mother to Lisa and her husband Inch Rahaman. Nan to their children, Micah, Mateo, and Jameele, whom she loved so much. Loved sister of Brian (Leanne), Billy, and Chris (Norma). She will be remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Elaine was a very private woman, who loved many things including jokes, cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, and all things Christmas. She was the matriarch of the Derrah family, holding the family close when Edith passed away. Over the years, she led a more private life and like so many women, would never ask for a helping hand and do it all herself. In the last few years, she battled metastatic breast cancer with dignity. She never complained. It was a battle she kept private, but a battle that she never gave up.

We would like to thank Dr. Tsvetkova from LRCP and the ICU team at University hospital, especially Dr. Slessarev and Dr. Leeper, who spoke to us at length over Mom’s care and who were a phone call or text away. Thank you to the Critical care fellow Logan for pulling up a chair in mom’s room and including her as much as possible in her care plan. Jane, the ICU resident who spoke to us with kindness and empathy. This meant more to us than you’ll ever know. Maddison from CCOT, and bedside nurses Elise and Jennifer who all made sure Elaine was taken care of with the utmost dignity. You will always have a special place in our hearts for delivering gentle care.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow immediately at 3:00 p.m.

Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Elaine are asked to consider the St. Joseph Health Care Foundation – Breast Care or the CMHA- Thames Valley.

I am so sorry to read about Elaine's passing. We worked together many years ago. Elaine was always so much fun to be around. Rest in Peace.

I’m so sorry to hear about Elaine. I worked with Elaine at No Frills. Although once she retired we lost touch. Elaine was a great cook, always bringing in desserts for her coworkers. She certainly was a joker. I’ll never forget the compassion she showed me as I went through cancer myself. I just wish I could have been there for her. You’re in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Condolences Angela Marchioni
