Judianne Marie Moran Carter

February 20, 1946 - January 10, 2024

Age 77, of London, Ontario passed away at home on January 10th, 2024 with family at her side.  Judianne was born February 20, 1946, in Saint John, New Brunswick to John and Geraldine (Lloyd) Moran.

She graduated from Saint John High School and attended Acadia University. Judi worked a variety of jobs in sales and customer service, but it was her love of figure skating that was a constant thread throughout her life.  From starting skating as a toddler to years of judging as an adult, it was her passion for coaching that brought her decades of fulfillment. She dedicated herself to her students and remained in contact with many of them throughout her years in the profession.

Skating wasn’t Judi’s only love of sport.  An enthusiastic spectator of tennis, golf, baseball, and in particular football, she would don her Jaguar sneakers and t-shirt and cheer for her favorite team.  Sunday afternoons watching “the game” with her grandchildren were her joy. She enjoyed puzzles, tackling crosswords, playing scrabble, reading, and playing all sorts of card games  –  definitely a worthy partner and opponent in Bridge.

Judi’s love of sports and games was only surpassed by her devotion to family and loyalty to friends. Through her moves from Saint John, Rothesay, Riverview, Dartmouth, Jacksonville, Chicago, High Point, and finally London, Judi developed lifelong friends along the way and cherished her time and connections with each of them.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters Stephanie (Dan) Martens, and Erin (John) Bryant, grandchildren Braiden and Jessica Martens, sister Joanne (John Thomsen) Moran, nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and her cat DaisyMae.  Judi was predeceased by her parents Geraldine Mary (Lloyd) and John Seivewright Windsor Moran, her husband of 47 years Geoffrey Robert Carter as well as a number of long-lived and well-loved cats.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to homecare workers, VON nurses, VON Personal care workers, and the Palliative Care Team who made it possible for Judi to remain in her home. Cremation has taken place.  There will be a Celebration of Life in Dartmouth in the late spring where Judi will be interred alongside her loving husband Geoffrey.

My deepest condolences to Judi’s family and friends. Very fond memories of growing up skating with Judi and Joanne. Her whole family was so involved in our beloved sport. I was delighted to bump into Judi at the World’s Figure Skating event in London in 2013. She was her energetic and fun loving self. She will be missed. Moyra💕

It was just a few days ago when reminiscing with a mutual friend that the "Moran girls" (Judi and Joanne) came up in the conversation. Many fond memories of them from days in summer school at St. Andrews, NB as well as at competitions here in the Atlantic Provinces way back in the '60s as well as both their parents who were so supportive of them in their skating endeavors. My sincere condolences to Judi's extended family and all her friends grieving Judi's passing. - AD

Auti Judi was such a special lady. So smart and spicy when you talked to her. She had a real wit about her… but she always focused on you, asking questions and always curious about you and your family were doing. She seemed to remember everything about your life and your immediate family. My wife Angie and i loved talking with her on the phone and as usual, we wish i could have spent more time with her , but the time we got to spend was fantastic. She will be so missed. Guarantee she is whipping everyone at games wherever she is.
