Visiting Marianne was always one the highlights of my week as a sales rep. She would always light up when talking about her children and grandchildren. She was so proud of all of the them. Marianne was a huge influence on me. She taught me how to navigate the complexities of hospital supply chain. I will always be indebted to her. Marianne’s friendship, passion and wisdom will be sadly missed.

I am still in shock of this news… Marianne was the person I always looked forward to seeing. Every time I stepped foot into UH, my first stop was to see Marianne. Even though I was a vendor, Marianne always made me feel a part of the hospital and genuinely cared about my personal life. I cannot thank her enough for the time and support she gave me. You will be forever missed and UH will not be the same without you. My condolences and heart are with your loving family. Love, Cal Smith

I am still in shock to hear about your great loss. I worked with Marianne in the OR for years and she was always such a kind caring soul. Her knowledge of her work, the ins and outs of the OR and her passion for her OR family was remarkable. The world was a better place with her in it for sure. As you move through the next few days/weeks know that we are all thinking of you. Thank you for sharing your beautiful Marianne with us. Rest in sweet peace my friend

I have had the pleasure of working closely with Marianne over the last year and becoming both coworkers and great friends. One that I can truly call a mentor. She was a blessing to begin each day with and a patient hand to hold as she helped me navigate a new stage of life and career. There is nothing forgettable about Marianne and the wonderful experience of knowing her. She will truly live on in the minds and hearts of those who shared these precious moments in her life.

~ Melissa Cable

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who had the privilege of knowing Marianne. I have been lucky enough to have worked with her for the last 10 years. I will miss chatting with her - whether it was work related and we were solving a problem or just hearing her talk about her family, who she loved so much. She cared about others and always made it a point to check in on me and see how I was doing. She will be deeply missed.

Aunt Mary was the person in our family who you could rely on for all the answers. If she couldn’t give you an answer right away, she would be sure to help you find one. She was one of the strongest women I have known. She would not only go out of her way to help everyone, but she would do it with a caring and positive attitude. She truly made the world a better, brighter place. Her legacy of kindness, positive energy, humor, and love will not be forgotten, and she will be immensely missed.

I am so shocked to hear of the passing of Marianne. As a rep she navigated product changes, shortages and stocking issues without fail. I often stopped by her office just to say hello and catch up. She was such a proud grandma and mom. She lived for her family. I'll miss her presence in the OR as many, many people will. We valued her efficiency and straightforward approach but most of all I will miss her smile. Rest in peace Marianne, you are gone much too soon.

~ Karen Irvine

I’ve know Marianne through working at the hospital with her for over 15 years now. As a device rep, I worked closely with her for many years. I loved how she lit up when speaking about her children and grandchildren. A true tragedy for your family and the hospital. My deepest condolences to all. She will be greatly missed.

So shocked to hear of Marianne’s passing. I worked with Marianne for years as a staff nurse and a charge nurse in the operating rooms and she was invaluable to me as not only a resource but as a friend. I would often drop into her office when stressed and she would either calm me down or find a solution. She will be missed.

~ Cathy Mulcahy

I am very sorry to learn of Marianne’s sudden passing. Over my lengthy career calling on UH as a Medical Device Rep for the Cardiac OR, Marianne and i worked together regularly and became friends. She was always updating me on her beloved family during my weekly visits. I will remember her strong work ethic and willingness to go far beyond her normal responsibilities, but also her great laugh and warm personality. May she rest in peace.

To Marianne's Family, I learned a great deal from her and she will be greatly missed. The message below was shared with all staff today. Flags will be lowered to half-mast today in honour of Marianne Anderson, who passed away on January 19, 2024. Marianne was a Supply Chain Management Clerk within the University Hospital Operating Room. Her Program Director, Stephanie Jackson, has shared the following in remembrance:   "It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of our beloved Marianne Anderson.   This year was Marianne’s 40th year at University Hospital. She began her journey as a receptionist in the purchasing department. During this time, she was going to school to complete her purchasing degree. Upon completion she became a buyer and remained with University Hospital through many changes until the Supply Chain Management role was created.   Marianne was an exceptional individual. She cared deeply for the program and was dedicated to the success of the department. Marianne was meticulous and would work tirelessly to ensure the best outcomes for the organization. She treated every dollar spent in the OR as if it was her own and worked to ensure we had the best price. She took pride in her role within the surgical team and was a critical part of the success achieved over the last 40 years.   Marianne was always thinking outside the box and loved providing creative solutions to our system challenges. She was the type of person to share a challenge and also her many ideas of how we could tackle solving it. Marianne always impressed me with her strength and positivity. Her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts. Our thoughts and condolences go out to her family. She will be deeply missed by her partner, three children and their spouses, and eight grandchildren. As colleagues and friends, please continue to support one another during this difficult time. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North. The funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation. Let us all remember Marianne as a shining example of dedication and commitment. We are grateful to have had the privilege of knowing her. " Team LHSC will greatly miss Marianne, and we will all carry her memory forward. My thoughts are with her loved ones, colleagues and all who knew her.   An In Memoriam has been created for Marianne. Please send any recollections, memories or stories you wish to share on this page. Dr. Kevin Chan Acting President & CEO London Health Sciences Centre

Dear Ashley, I was so shocked and saddened to hear about your mom’s passing. She was always a pleasure to work with and she loved sharing updates on you and your family. I was able to have a nice chat with her just before the holiday break and will remember that conversation fondly. I pray for you and all your family during this difficult time. I hope happy memories will help ease some of the heartache.
