John Lawrie Phinnemore

November 24, 2023

John Lawrie Phinnemore passed peacefully into eternity to be with his Lord and saviour at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023 after a week in hospice care. John was a loving and faithful husband to Dorrel (Dodie) as they traveled the adventure of life together for 59 years. John was an amazing and loving father to his son Scott and wife Bonnie, and to his daughter Julie and her husband Lyall Mix. John will be missed by his grandchildren Karrah, Erin Peters (Jared), Renee and Katie, as well as Austin, Evan and Faith Schwartz (Adam).

John’s time here is an example of a life well lived for the glory of God, as he set an example for his family of what it is to love Jesus and live out his call on your life. He will be missed, and yet John leaves a godly legacy he received from his parents Victor and Isobel, whom he is reunited with on the other side of eternity.

Funeral service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of John are asked to consider ShareWord Global.

John Phinnemore ran an awesome race giving his all to the Lord. He led the ShareWord/Gideon ministry's London Chapter as President with passion and integrity. We ministered together at the London Library giving out Gideon New Testament scriptures some years ago. John inspired us with his life & perseverance serving Christ in the midst of his health condition, giving his best unto the Lord Jesus Christ. You will be remembered fondly. “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬ ‭ “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” ‭‭ Psalms‬ ‭116‬:‭15‬ ‭ “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-8‭“ May our precious Savior bring much comfort to Dodie, Julie, Scott and your families. Blessings and much love from Nick, Veenet and family.

Dear Dodie, Scott, Julie & families, We were surprised & saddened to learn of John's passing. Warm memories quickly sprang to mind of our days at NAC & Valleyview. Watching the church baseball games always got John a little more animated, especially if Scott was up to bat. Yes, he was a proud dad. Please accept our sincerest condolences. Praying peace & comfort for you all in these days ahead. Kathy & Bill
