Colin Grant Simmons, of London, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the age of 88. He was the beloved husband of Helen. He was predeceased by his first wife Sarah (2007). Loving father of Robert (Catherine) of Grand Bend, Laurie Jewell of Petoskey, Michigan, and Alan (Terri) of Hamilton. Dear grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Survived by brother John of Oshawa; brothers-in-law Jack Pettigrew of Toronto and Bob Pettigrew of Hamilton; and sister-in-law Betty Nemeth of Brampton. Predeceased by brother Paul; sisters-in-law Gladsy and Marilyn; sister Susan Baxter; and brothers-in-law Bill Baxter and Ernie Nemeth. Colin was an avid sports fan going back to the late 40s cheering on the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Wings, Pistons and the Hamilton Tiger Cats. He was also an accomplished woodworker. Colin worked many years at Proctor and Gamble, and retired from Chapman Brothers in London. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Colin are asked to consider The Salvation Army or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Colin was a great guy, a guy’s guy. I always enjoyed talking with him about sports and other topics. I will miss him. May he rest in peace.
What a wonderful, kind friend. Colin and Helen had a great marriage and now our life too is so much emptier.
