Elsie Roberts

With her loving family by her side at LHSC – Victoria Hospital, Elsie passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, just a few weeks shy of her 88^th birthday. She will truly be missed by all of those whose lives she touched.

Elsie has been reunited with Bill (2012), her soul mate and beloved husband of 52 years. She will be dearly missed by her children Cheryl (Steve) and Nancy (Jim); grandchildren Scott (Michelle), Eric (Kayla), Mark (Margaret), Will and Keith; and great-grandchildren Bethany, Jack and Vernon. She is predeceased by her brothers Art (2016) (Dorothy) and Rick (2022), and her parents Stanley and Mary.

Born on June 6, 1935 in Malonton, MB, to a proud Ukrainian family, Elsie made London, ON her home for most of her adult life. After many years with the Canadian Pacific Railway, Elsie enjoyed a long retirement that allowed her to indulge in her favourite pastimes of reading, knitting, fishing, and spending time with family. A bit of a card shark in the days before women were known for playing poker, she also enjoyed occasionally challenging her luck at the casino. “What is life if not a gamble?” (F.E. Higgins).

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, followed by a funeral service and interment at Oakland Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Elsie are asked to consider Diabetes Canada.
