Robert ‘Bob’ Stanley Thornicroft

Peacefully, with his family by his side in St. Joseph’s Hospice of London on Friday, March 31, 2023, in his 91^st year. Beloved husband of Marg Thornicroft for 64 years and loving father of Kim (Jody). Predeceased by parents Harold and Honey Majorie and brother Bruce (Clari). He was the brother of Donna (Bob) Jeffrey, Murray (Myrna), Frances (Ron) Hand, Janet Mitchell; and brother-in-law of Sonja (Keith) Kennedy. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Robert spent 30 years as a police officer with the London Police Service before his retirement. He spent many happy hours building the family cottage with brother-in-law Keith, which provided us with lots of fun summers and many shenanigans. Bob was a great sports fanatic; he loved watching and playing hockey, baseball, football, golf, bowling and playing pool. He looked forward to his Monday morning breakfast meetings with his buddies. He was also a lover of travel, art, and spent many happy hours carving and painting.

We want to give special thanks to his caregiving team including the palliative care team with Dr. Hamilton, Dr. Jill, ParaMed, Medical Priorities, and Senior Home Care by Angels – We will appreciate you all forever.

Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Wednesday, April 5^th, 2023 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 6^th, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Dorchester Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Robert are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program, St. Joseph’s Hospice or a charity of your choice.
