Simone Yvette Young (née Audette)

March 29, 2023

Peacefully with her husband by her side and surrounded by her family, at LHSC – Victoria Hospital, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 in her 66th year. Beloved wife of Blaine for 47 years. Loving mother of Tyler (Holly) and Todd (Rebecca). Adored grandmother of Noah, Kaylyn, Logan, Makayla and Hayley. Dear sister of Raymond (Jeannette), Robert (Olive) and Suzanne (Ian), and aunt to nephews, Michel, Danny and Matthew, and nieces, Manon, Danielle and Carolyn. Predeceased by her mother, Aline (2000) and father, Elphege (2003). Loved by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Born and raised in Virginiatown, Ontario, Simone moved to London, Ontario in 1976 with her husband. The two spent eight years travelling, hosting parties, and enjoying life as a couple before welcoming their first child Tyler (1984), followed by their second son, Todd, six years later (1990). She was employed at Canadian Tire Petroleum and subsequently at Metro as a baker where she worked for 33 years until her retirement.

Simone loved to travel with Blaine, friends and family, whether on BigRed, in the van or by plane, in search of warm climates, beautiful sunsets and a spot on the beach to read a good book…. though her happiest moments were those spent close to home surrounded by her sons and grandchildren.

Just as Simone had done throughout her life, she faced the challenges of the last few years with an unwavering courage, enduring positivity and a quick-witted sense of humour. Even in sickness, Simone’s infectious smile was always present and will not be forgotten. So full of life, she filled others’ lives with unconditional love, strength and happiness. Her laugh will resound in the hearts of those who knew her and the knowledge she bestowed will reverberate for generations to come.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Simone are asked to consider the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, in support of their children and youth programs  (https://www.ymcaswo.ca/thriving-kids-and-youth-start-here) or a charity of your choice.

She was my everything! I'm miss her! Simone was always happy and cheerful. She would still smile and laugh even when she was having a bad day she would find a reason to show me her smile. She had a few things on her bucket list. Number one was to spoil and play with the grand kids which she did every chance she got! A close second was to go to the beach and play in the sand and read a good book. Simone I will always Love You! Blaine

Blaine, we are sorry to hear that Simone has passed. You both were always welcome at our place and we looked forward to spending time with you. Simone left a lasting impression on everyone that met her, especially Frenchie! Even though he only saw her a few times, he spoke of her fondly and often asked when both of you were coming up again. It’s a testament to how much people liked her. She will be dearly missed but I know people will always smile when they think of her.
