Mary Margaret Palmer (née Schmuck)
January 30, 2023
At Parkwood Institute – Palliative Care Unit in the early hours of Monday, January 30, 2023, Mary Margaret Palmer (née Schmuck) of London, in her 85th year. Born June 3, 1938 to Charles Ferdinand and Mary Catharine Schmuck (née Chapman). Beloved sister of Jane Ellen Schmuck. Loving mother of Charles William Palmer (Wendy), Brian Keith Palmer (Liszz) and Christopher John Palmer (Julie Clarke). Adored Grandmother/Grandma/Gumma/G-MA of Courtney, Amanda, Kevin, Kaylene, Taylor, Brian Jr, Sydney, Reece, Zachary, Jordan and Sarah. Dear Great-Grandmother/Grandma of Jaiden, Blake, Liam, Hadley and Kai. Predeceased by her brother John Francis Schmuck (2018), and daughter-in-law Kerri-Ann (2019).
Mary Margaret graduated from St. Josephs School of Nursing in London, Ontario in 1959 and practiced in hospitals around Ontario until retiring in 1970 to focus on family. She loved the maternity ward! She was passionate about her three boys and their families, enjoyed gardening (having two green thumbs!), loved watching any sports on TV (especially March Madness, golf, and her Jays) and will be Forever In Blue Jeans, a Neil Diamond fan. She loved her Tostitos with hummus and as much Shaw’s Black Sweet Cherry Ice Cream she could get her hands on. Mary Margaret loved to talk with people – no matter who you were or what your story was, she always had time for a conversation. A friend to many; she was dearly cherished by Nena Sicoli, Lois Dix and Joan Turner.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Private family interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Our team was so sad to hear the news about Mary Margaret. I think we spent more time talking in the dental chair than actually performing treatment. To share a story. During one of our conversations, she inadvertently called me Father Tom, to which I replied, well okay Sister Mary Margaret. From that point on, as soon as she entered the front door, our team would announce "Sister Mary Margaret has arrived". We will certainly miss her. Our sincerest condolences to her Family. Dr. Tom and the Team at Dentistry 390.
So sorry for your loss Chuck & extended Palmer family. Thinking of you and sending sincere condolences from my family to yours.
Sincerest condolences to Chuck & Wendy, Brian and Liszz and Chris & Julie and all her grandchildren/great-grandchildren. Your mom/grandmother was a very special lady who will be sadly missed. Wishing that the pain and sorrow you are feeling now will soon be replaced by all the wonderful memories you hold close in your heart! Sending hugs, Dave & Karen
