Stephen “Steve” Lea

December 12, 2022

At the tender age of 67, Steve passed away peacefully with family by his side, at St. Joseph’s Hospice in London, Ontario on Monday, December 12, 2022.

Beloved partner and husband of Diana for 12 years and cherished father to Jeff Lea (Raquel), Jessica Blair (Corey), Jenna Lea (Brad Tanner) and Derek Sandin (Shannon Smith). Adored by his grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan and Rylee Blair. Missed dearly by his in-laws, Guy & Franca D’Avirro and Maria D’Avirro, and many nieces and nephews.

Steve’s love for family and friends was shown by a big smile, a huge hug, a kiss on the cheek or a firm handshake every time you were with him. His favourite sports teams were the CFL Saskatchewan Roughriders and the NHL Chicago Blackhawks. Steve loved to travel, whether it was locally or abroad, visiting new places each time. He loved live music – as soon as the band started, he was up dancing. Steve’s second career in car and commercial vehicle sales was his passion. He loved his position at Highbury Ford as Commercial Sales Manager and continued to work until October 2022. Steve always went the extra mile to help his customers get what they needed, and had many customers turn into friends. He was a true gentleman and always showed kindness, dignity and respect to everyone he met.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassion and care shown by the nurses, staff, volunteer staff and doctors during Steve’s short stay at hospice, and to Carrie at ParaMed palliative care team for helping to navigate through such a difficult time.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, Ontario on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm with eulogies at 3:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Steve are asked to consider St. Joseph’s Hospice of London or the London Health Sciences Foundation – Cancer Program.

Steve will be missed not only by us at Highbury Ford but I’m sure the customers he looked after. He was not just a nice guy but a true professional when it came to business. His broad knowledge base from his past career in banking gave him the ability to offer a one stop shopping experience. We will miss his smile and deep sounding voice, and the conviction to his job every day even to his last day. Thanks Steve you will be missed on many levels.
