Donald ‘Don’ Wallace Adams

We are saddened to announce the passing of Donald Wallace Adams (Don), at University Hospital in London, on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the age of 77, following a three-week illness. Beloved husband to Dorothy Adams, wonderful father to Shelley (Suzanne), Marcie (Jeff), Heather (Dan), Tammy, Karin, and Laurie (Jeff), and proud and devoted Papa to Bryn, Dana, Dane, Tyler (Zoey), Kala (Matt), Kelly, Emma and Lexi. Don was long the heart of his blended family. Loving brother to Gayle, John, Ross and Shirley.
Don will be missed by the very many lives he touched in his family, community and his professional work. A graduate of Western University, Don loved his long career as a human resources professional, and was still engaged in this work through his own human resources business at the time of his passing. In later years, he enjoyed having more time to focus on family and on the volunteer and community work that he was so passionate about, including with Community Living London, the Graham Family Eco Park, London Majors Baseball team, the Komoka Kings Junior B Hockey team, from whom he received the Kelly Hearn Award for Outstanding Volunteer in 2020, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, from whom he received the 2021 Volunteer of the Year award for the Light the Night campaign. Don was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed cheering on his teams both from home and in the rink. He loved spending time with family and friends, and could often be found enjoying well deserved relaxation time at home, cooking, baking, reading, completing word searches and watching videos of cattle and deer on YouTube.
We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the ICU staff at University Hospital for their dedicated care and compassion during this difficult time. A funeral service celebrating Don’s life will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation an hour prior.

Dear Dorothy, my sincere condolences to you and your family. Don was a great guy and will truly be missed by all his family and friends.
You were the only Dad I have truly had in my life. No one will ever replace the love and dedication you gave to me.
Don was a huge help over the past several years to OPPL as a trusted human resources advisor. He will be missed dearly by the staff here and we extend our deepest condolences to Don's family, friends and colleagues.
My sincere personal condolences to Don's family. I really enjoyed getting to know Don through my workplace but quickly found that we had so many shared connections in London through his community involvement. He was well respected and cared for in his community which speaks volumes to his character. His contributions and presence will be greatly missed.
Don was a wonderful man who always brightened a room and your heart with his smile. He will be dearly missed.
Dear Dorothy. I was so saddened to read of Don’s death. He was a champion and so liberal with his support of anyone in need. I cannot forget the work you both did to help me with your paintings and sketches of the African children I met years ago. He fought his health battles with courage. He impacted the lives of many people and we will never forget him. My deepest sympathies.
Dear Marcie, Jeff, Bryn and Dana, We were very saddened to hear of Don's passing. He was always so lovely and pleasant; I thoroughly enjoyed our chit-chats when he'd come into the bank all those years ago. His efforts in the community were outstanding! What a remarkable life. Dorothy and family, please accept our sincerest condolences on the loss of Don. He was a great supporter of our family, in particular our parents Bill and Charmaine and his friendship during Bill’s later years was very much appreciated. We hope you can find comfort knowing what a kind and generous man Don was and how much his friendship meant to so many.
We are very saddened to hear of Don’s passing. Although brief, Aidan (Bryn’s friend), was so thrilled to have met you and Don this past summer. We are so glad Aidan got to meet Don, as he has left an imprint in his heart. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. He had a capacity to be truly present when he gave you his undivided attention listening so attentively, he made each person feel so valued and valuable. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved brother-in-law, Don. He was an unique person- a 'people person. He could relate to everyone, sit & have a conversation & connect in some way to everyone of any age. He made you comfortable. Don shared his enthusiasm by supporting a wide variety of causes to the benefit of his family & the community. You are well loved, Don, and deeply missed but we have lots of memories.
